Paper
  • Invented in 100 BC
  • Industries started paper production in 105 AD
    (Han Dynasty)
  • Paper was made by mixing finely chopped mulberry
    bark and hemp rags with water, mashing it flat,
    and then pressing out the water and letting it
    dry in the sun.
  • It took 3000 years to make paper
  • Invented by Tsai Lun

Compass
  • The Invention date is not known
  • The compass was introduced to the Arab world and
    Europe during the Northern Song Dynasty. The
    spread of the compass to Europe opened the oceans
    of the world to travel and led to the discovery
    of the New World.
  • During the Song Dynasty (960-1279) many trading
    ships were then able to sail as far as Saudi
    Arabia without getting lost.

  • The ancient Chinese civilization was very skilled
    at using what nature gave them to create various
    inventions
  • One of the most important and best known
    inventions the Chinese ever created was Gunpowder
  • Ancient Chinese gunpowder is still used every day
    and is one of the most powerfully explosives
    available

Firecracker
  • also known as Phow chook
  • To scare off evil spirits
  • early records described firecrackers as gunpowder
    or explosive chemicals
  • A Chinese document (from about 1040) showed how
    to wrap gunpowder in paper to make a 'fire pill.'
    This small firecracker made a very loud bang

  • A blast furnace is a type of metallurgical
    furnace used for smelting to produce industrial
    metals, generally iron, but also others such as
    lead or copper.
  • In a blast furnace, fuel, ores, and flux
    (limestone) are continuously supplied through the
    top of the furnace, while a hot blast of air is
    blown into the lower section of the furnace
    through a series of pipes called tuyeres

  • the very first kite was made by mi dating back
    2300 years
  • early kites were used for the military
  • during the qing dynasty it was believed that
    flying a kite then letting it go might send bad
    luck and illness away

  • Printing is one of the four great inventions of
    ancient China. It has a long history and
    far-reaching impact. With a development process
    of over 5,000 years, printing is a key component
    of Chinese civilization
  • In ancient China, there was a long history of
    character carving techniques
  • Along with the development of hand carving
    techniques and the invention of paper making,
    people invented printing in practice
  • Block printing, appeared in early Tang Dynasty,
    was the first technique put into use
  • To conduct block printing, one need to write the
    text on paper first, then stick the paper to a
    polished wood board

Bell
  • A bell is a simple idiophone percussion
    instrument
  • most are made of metal cast in the shape of a
    hollow cup, whose sides form a resonator which
    vibrates in a single tone upon being struck
  • The strike may be made by a "clapper" or "uvula"
    suspended within the bell, by a separate mallet
    or hammer, orin small bellsby a small loose
    sphere enclosed within the body of the bell.
  • Bells are usually made by casting metal, but
    small bells can also be made from ceramic or
    glass
  • Bells range in size from tiny dress accessories
    to church bells 5 metres tall, weighing many tons
