2Service Connection
- If you served in the military, you may be
entitled to service-connected compensation if you
have a disability that was incurred or aggravated
during active military service. - A diagnosis in-service is not required as long as
we can show through medical evidence that your
condition likely arose during your time in the
military. - At Levine-Piro Law, we can help you apply for
service connection or appeal a denial, developing
medical and other evidence to strengthen your
case and give you the best chance of having your
claims approved.
3Increased Rating Claims
If you are already service-connected, the VA may
not have assigned the correct disability rating
for your conditions or, your service-connected
conditions may have worsened. In either case,
Levine-Piro Law can help you obtain an increased
disability rating, which may entitle you to
increased monthly compensation. In addition, if
your service-connected conditions prevent you
from working, you may be entitled to Total
Disability Based On Individual Unemployability,
a benefit which again may result in increased
compensation to you.The medical criteria and the
law in this area are complex, but Levine-Piro Law
can assist you in obtaining the compensation you
deserve.
4Effective Dates
- Generally, when you are awarded service
connection, VA will assign you an effective
date of the date on which you filed your claim,
resulting in retroactive benefits back to that
date - The lawyers at Levine-Piro Law will examine your
VA claims file with a fine-toothed comb to
determine whether you may be entitled to an
earlier effective date, which could result in a
larger award to you. - However, you may actually be entitled to benefits
dating farther back
