Australia Education System
The Australian education system is distinguished
from many other countries by the Australian
Qualifications Framework (AQF). (opens in a new
window) The AQF was established in 1995 and is a
national policy that covers qualifications from
the tertiary education sector (higher education
and vocational education and training) in
addition to the school-leaving certificate the
Senior Secondary Certificate of Education. The
AQF has 10 levels and links school, vocational
and university education qualifications into one
national system. This allows you to move easily
from one level of study to the next, and from one

New Zealand Education System
New Zealands education system has three levels
early childhood education, secondary schooling,

an Honors degree. Not every degree follows this
31 pattern there are some four-year degrees

awarded with first class, upper second class,
lower second class or third class, but this can
vary from degree to degree. A bachelors degree
will be followed by a Masters degree. A
candidate who does not hold an Honors degree may
be awarded a Masters degree with honors such a
degree usually involves two years study, compared
to one year for a Masters degree for a candidate
who does have an Honors degree. A candidate who
has either a Masters degree or a bachelors
degree with Honors can proceed to a doctoral
degree.
