  • T.C.E. Kindergarten Sight Words ppt 3 -2016

  • The main purpose of these power points is to help
kindergarten students to practice the required
sight vocabulary for advancement to first grade.
  • Each power point has directions for the parent to
follow between each word that is introduced.
These directions explain how the student can
    practice using a multisensory approach.
  • If the writing practice is not necessary because
the student learns quickly, the slides with the
directions can be passed over and the student can
just practice by saying the name of each letter
as it appears, then saying the word and the
    sentence in which it appears.
  • It is important, however, that the student do
the practice with someone who can give immediate
feedback as to the students correctness.

This next slide is an assessment, so the
student needs to read the words alone. If
s/he reads them easily, then it is time to
go to the next sight word power point. If
only one or two words are missed, then
extra practice with just those words is
necessary before going onto the next sight
word power point. It is necessary to review
the power points ever so often if the
student is not starting to use the sight
words practiced in everyday reading
activities.
