The main reason why a sewer line or drain gets
clogged is due to the consistence flow of fats,
oil and grease gushing down those pipeline.
Though curable, a clogged pipeline therefore,
needs the utmost attention and maintenance to
keep a check on the collected filth in your
drainage system. Please remember that a sewer
drain clog is a very serious problem that can be
considered as a plumbing emergency service. If
such situation crops up at home or office, one
needs to realize that since the water has no
place to go it will all come back up into the
household plumbing in one way or another. If you
have encountered such a situation earlier one
thing to keep in mind is that you should not use
any of the plumbing exercise at your residence or
office until the stoppage is cleared. If you
suspect that your sewer drain clog is a serious
issue it is important take necessary and quick

So what is a Grease
Trap?
Technically speaking, a grease trap is a
receptacle that kitchen wastewater flows through
before entering the sanitary sewer lines. This
receptacle is professionally defined as a grease
interceptor that captures, or traps the unwanted
grease.   As you all must be aware that the term
grease in the industry means animal fats and
vegetable oils, and is 10 to 15 percent less
dense than water. As grease does not get mixed
with water, as a result the fats and oils
streaming through the kitchen sink floats on top
of the water.

How Does It Function?
When the kitchen wastewater flows through a
grease interceptor or trap, the grease and oil
rise to the surface of the trap and are trapped
using a system of baffles. Then the captured
grease fills the trap from the top to down,
removing clean water out from the bottom and into
sewer line. One look into a grease trap and you
will see a mat of grease. Keep in mind that when
this mat of grease gets deep enough, the trap
must be cleaned out to maintain any future
plumbing problems. Trained plumbers are very
efficient with drain grease trap, and can perform
handy operation for you.

Is Grease trap service efficient enough to Keep
The Drains Clog Free?
This is always a question of ifs and buts while
you rate the performance of a grease trap. As the
traditional designs is such that they are filled
with grease, their efficiency at separating
grease from wastewater decreases. As a trap is
filled to the capacity with oil and fats, smug
and mud, separation no longer happens and the
trap no longer functions properly.   Please
remember that traditional concrete traps must be
maintained and pumped out when 25-30 percent of
their volume is filled, it is so because after
that limit, they no longer work well enough to
keep fats and oils out of the sewage
systems.    Untimely maintained grease traps or
the failure to install a grease trap when
required often lead to a major problem. If you
hire a residential plumbing service company after
the situation has gone out of hands, be ready to
pay more for their professional services.

What are the various types of grease traps?
According to the rules and regulations adopted in
the USA, there are three main types of grease
traps found in food service establishments and
housing community.   The usage of the
traditional grease traps or Passive grease traps
dates back to 1885. In the present times many
manufacturers may it be large or small grease
traps use the same basic operating design as the
1885 patented model. While they do a good job of
trapping grease, but removing the grease is a
task that is to be carried out by the
owner.   Small passive traps do not give you that
much inconvenience and can be cleaned out just by
using hand. But the large pre-cast traps, which
are mostly preferred by eateries and hotels, must
be cleaned out by a professional plumbers who are
trained in performing the various services such
as plumbing repairs, drain cleaning, commercial
water line repair, residential grease trap
services, video inspection and much more.

What are the vital signs of a
sewer drain clog
Blocking of various fixtures - The most evident
sign which shows that your sewer drain is
clogged, is when more than one plumbing fixture
backs up at same time. Remember that the most
affected part of the house due to such blockages
is the toilet. But other fixtures also do get
affected, and if you think that you have a sewer
drain clog, start by checking other fixtures in
the home.   Save your Toilets - Toilets have the
most direct path to the sewer and the biggest
drain line in your home. Even if there is an
issue with the sewer drain you will notice it
here first. It is rare to see a main line sewer
stoppage that does not disturb the toilets drain
system.     Take care of the Tub and Shower -
Other drains that typically get affected by a
main line stoppage are those in the tub and
shower. This happens because they are placed at a
lower position than your sink drain. Always
double check if your tub and shower drains are
blocked, to avoid the drain water gushing back
into the place where one has to clean his body.
