• Haridwar is an ancient city of Uttarakhand. The
  River Ganga, after flowing from its source at
  Gaumukh, enters the Indo-Gangetic Plains of North
  India for the first time at Haridwar. It gave the
  city its ancient name, Gangadwára.
• It is regarded as one of the seven holiest places
  (Sapta Puri) to Hindus and is one of four sites
  where drops of Amrit, the elixir of immortality,
  accidentally spilled.
• The popular places to visit in Haridwar consists
  of ghats and various temples which makes it a
  famous pilgrimage centre where Moksha, final
  release can be obtained.

• Kumbha Mela is celebrated every 12 years in
  Haridwar. During the Haridwar Kumbh Mela,

  congregate to perform ritualistic bathing on the
  banks of the river Ganges to wash away their sins
