Title: The Many Advantages of Dental Implants

1
The Many Advantages of Dental Implants
2
  • If you are missing teeth due to an accident,
tooth decay, or another oral disease, you may be
a good candidate for the dental implant procedure
at the office of Dr. M. Shoaib Khan. Dental
implants replace damaged tooth roots and provide
a foundation for your new permanent or removable
teeth. Our dental laboratory technicians create
them to match your natural teeth as closely as
    possible.

A Reputation of Success and Longevity
  • With a success rate around 98 percent, dental
implants are an ideal option for people who want
to improve the function of their existing teeth
as well as their smile and appearance. They also
offer numerous benefits. Some of these include
  • Look, feel, and function like natural teeth

4
  • Permanent placement, which eliminates the need to
    use adhesive gels
  • Improved speech capabilities, unlike dentures
that may slip and affect pronunciation of certain
    words
  • Can last for a lifetime with proper care
  • More comfortable than removable dentures
  • No need to alter surrounding teeth to support the
    new implant

5
  • Improved chewing ability and few restrictions on
    the food you can eat
  • While all of these are wonderful benefits, the
self-esteem boost you get from dental implants
cant be measured. You can smile confidently
because you no longer have gaps in your mouth
where your teeth used to be. You also dont have
to worry about your new teeth slipping out of
place and causing embarrassment as can happen
    with removable dentures.

6
  • People who smoke, have diabetes or heart
disease, or who have recently had radiation
therapy in the head or neck area may not be a
good candidate for this procedure. However, Dr.
Khan evaluates each patient on an individual
    basis.

7
The Process of Getting Dental Implants
  • At your first appointment, Dr. Khan places the
tooth root implant into the bone socket of the
area where you are missing a tooth. The
replacement implant is made of titanium. Over the
next six to 12 weeks, the jawbone heals and grows
around the metal post. This process is necessary
for it to anchor securely to the jaw.

8
  • Next, Dr. Khan creates an abutment to hold the
new tooth or teeth in place. After taking several
impressions of your mouth and teeth, he sends the
images to our lab to create your replacement
teeth. When he receives them back, he permanently
secures your new tooth to the abutment.
