The Concept of BRAINSTORMING
Brainstorming is a process that helps you to
generate creative ideas, that form a solution to
a specific problem.
Remember - To make an impact, your justification
should be complete, and must sound authentic.
Ask Yourself
How can I stand out of the crowd of Applicants?
What do I write to draw their attention?
How to Brainstorm?
Brainstorming relies on in- depth thinking. So,
your creativity will help you to conceive better
ideas, and allow you to think from every
perspective.
15
HOW TO WRITE THE MOST EFFECTIVE APPLICATION
ESSAYS?
While writing an essay, you must ensure that it
should be written in a proper sequence. You can
summarize your essay, by breaking it into parts
or paragraphs. You must jot down the key points,
before writing down the entire story.
What to write in essays - paragraph wise ?
  • In the first paragraph
  • You should give a convincing introduction to the
    challenges faced by the team.
  • In the second paragraph
  • You can mention, the preventive actions taken by
    you.
  • In the third paragraph
  • You can talk about the motivational actions taken
    to resolve these problems.
  • In the fourth paragraph
  • You can talk about the results- whether they were
    fruitful or they backfired.
  • In the fifth paragraph
  • You can mention the takeaways, or the outcome
    of your efforts.

16
RULES
ESSAY WRITING
  1. Writing Narratively.

B. Use of the First Person
C. Keep It Simple.
D. Embrace The Conflict.
The sole motive of writing an essay, is to answer
the questions asked by the business school. They
dont really care about the vocabulary, or your
knowledge of literature
Respecting the word count, and sticking to the
word limit is a must. You should not cross the
word count, because it will carry a negative
impression.
Remember to Highlight
  • Your career highlights, professional
    achievements, awards, recognitions, etc.
  • You need to jot down each and every aspect, that
you feel, will play an important role in
    strengthening your candidacy.
  •

17
What happens when you dont follow the rule?
Suppose If you end up 20 beyond the word limit.
In case, you are 20 percent beyond the word
limit, the admission officers feel that, you are
arrogant and overconfident.
If, you are 50 percent under the limit, it will
suggest, either you didnt read the instructions,
or you are not as interested
Deviating from the topic will exhibit your lack
of focus, as well as interest
18
Essay Writing Styles- What to avoid ?
a) You should avoid using Quotes.
b) Useless Dialogue
c) Avoid repetition
d) Passive voice
e) Difficult language
19
THE OPTIONAL ESSAY
How would you know, if you would require an
optional essay?
According to The Columbia Business School, An
optional fourth essay, will allow you to discuss
any issues, that do not fall within the purview
of the required essays.
As per the Business schools- If you feel, there
are circumstances of which the Admissions
Committee should be aware, please explain them,
in an optional essay.
When should you write an optional essay?
You can write an optional essay for unexplained
gaps in work, choice of recommenders,
inconsistent, or questionable academic
performance, or any significant weakness in your
application.
Optional essays give you a second chance, but
writing your optional essays, will require a
certain set of skills, because you are trying to
convince the admissions officers, by giving
reasons for a negative situation, or a weakness
in your profile.

20
How to Craft a successful, and compelling
optional essay?
1.Take responsibility for your actions
Taking responsibility for your actions means, you
are more mature, and you understand your mistakes
2.Write to the point.
You should avoid writing unnecessary statements,
and must respect the word count, because by
submitting an optional essay, you are asking the
admission officer to do extra work.
3.Demonstrate the Change.
You need to take responsibility for your academic
shortcomings, or the negative circumstances, and
then provide evidence of your desire to change.

write a personal and knowledgeable letter, that
discusses your Talents, accomplishments,
personality, and potential.
22
How do you choose your recommender?

effort, and time necessary to write a letter?

An open letter to all aspirants
Dear Aspirant, You need to understand that
neither Rome was not built in a day nor America
was. Sometimes, even after all your hard work,
you may end up on the losing side and not get
what you deserved and wanted so badly. But having
said so quitting was never an option and this
statement holds even more true when you are at
the threshold of making a crucial decision of
your career which would change your life 360
degree. If you do not crack it in your first
attempt, the earth is not going to face an
apocalypse. So instead of holding yourself
responsible, take charge of things that are in
your control and let your future take its shape
accordingly. Remember that you are special - in
every way and in true sense. There is no body
like you and we at COLLMISSION sincerely believe
the same. So the bottom-line is Never give up
