June as the International Day of Yoga. The call
was initially made by Indian Prime Minister Mr.
Narendra Modi during his address to UN General
Assembly.

is also the longest day of the year and has
special significance in different countries
across the world.

June is the day of summer solstice. Adiyogi, the
first yogi, turned south and set his eyes on
Seven Sages who were his disciples to carry the
science of yoga across the world.

tremendous as 175 countries co-sponsored the
resolution.
Addressing thousands of people gathered at
Chandigarhs Capitol Complex, PM Narendra Modi
launched the 2nd International Yoga Day
celebrations on Tuesday.

7Over 30000 people were estimated to have
participated in the event. The theme of this year
was Connect the Youth, adds Vaikundarajan.
