Moving-in-Place Power WalkGood for
Cardiovascular and Balance
A 10-minue power walk requires very little space
and will get your blood flowing and make you feel
energized.  Remain in one spot as you,
alternately, pick up your feet so your thighs
will be at about a 45-degree angle with each
leg-lifting movement.  Moving fairly quickly will
be the most effective and your hands will form a
fist as your arms are bent and swing back and
forth.

Physical activity is the best remedy for
arthritis pain relief according to George
Washington University School of Medicine in
Washington, D.C.  Indoor cycling is a wonderful
option that offers a cardiovascular workout
without stressing weight-bearing joints.  Adjust
the seat height so your knee is as straight as
possible while one of the pedals is at its lowest
position.  To be the most effective for arthritis
and joint-pain relief, its important to not
pedal faster than 60 revolutions per minute. 
Biking for a continuous 10 minutes is perfect
and if you wish to add any resistance, do so
after you have had a 5-minute warm-up.  If you
have to exert too much effort after adding
resistance, you know the resistance level is too
intense, so adjust accordingly.  Those with very
painful knees, however, should refrain from
cycling, altogether, because this exercise can
aggravate the condition.
