Luis Alfredo Baena Riviere has extensive
experience working as a consultant. During his
illustrious professional career he filled that
role with various companies. Between 2000 and
2001 he had an extended advisory role with the
Vasquez Hess LLP company, acting as their
Advisor and Consultant. Four years later he was
asked to fill in for a similar task, this time
working for the BGP Seismic China Company.

intricacies of the energy sector. Shale oil is
basically conventional oil that is trapped in
hard to tap formations of shale rock. Its
extraction process starts very similarly to the
conventional oil drilling, in a sense that the
hole is drilled straight down. Once the depth is
reached, comes the unconventional part. Contrary
to the conventional process, the drilling here
continues horizontally. This allows the oil to
escape the rock and flow to the surface. The
fluctuations of the oil prices largely influence
these practices of course, but considering the
lack of availability of crude oil in certain

notes, shale oil drilling will stay for a long
time.
