A home security lock can be any lock from your
most basic entry lockset to the keyless entry
system that is equipped with an alarm. Which lock
is used will depend on the type of security the
homeowner needs. The entry lockset includes a
simple lock in the door handle and is the one
that is usually found in residential homes. For
added security you can add a deadbolt lock. Some
door handle sets have a combination of an entry
lockset with the deadbolt. For minimal amount of
home security you can use an entry lockset that
is spring-operated.

Even though the security they offer is minimal
they are convenient to use. Usually there is a
push button the interior side of the handle of
the door with a key access on the exterior of the
door. With this type of home security lock you
can lock the door from either side. There are
some of these entry locksets that have key access
on both sides. You can also have a keyless entry
system that has an electronic keypad instead of
the traditional key.

deadbolt. They come in different styles and refer
to the manual operation of the lock because there
are no springs used to operate this home security
lock. The deadbolt has a single-cylinder lock
that has a hand-turned known on the inside of the
door and a key for the outer side of the door.
There is also a keyed alike lock that uses a key
for the inside and outside. Another type of
deadbolt locks are the ones that are
surface-mounted, which means that they are
mounted to the inside surface of the door.

Many homeowners choose a combination home
security lock that combines a deadbolt with an
entry lockset. Usually the entry lockset is for
appearance that being used as security. Using the
deadbolt gives you the security. There are
manufactures that sell these master keyed lock
sets with the lockset and deadbolt keyed the same
so you will only need one key to operate both of
the locks. Another type of home security lock is
called a mortise lock.

amount of security. This type of home security
lock requires professional installation because
of the labor-intensive work it requires. It is a
lock that is not often seen on a residential door
but is used on big entryway doors.
