Read about Bronchitis Treatment Remedies
  • Learn what is asthmatic bronchitis. Explore
    types, symptoms bronchitis treatment options

2
How Is Bronchitis Diagnosed?
  • Tests are usually unnecessary in the case of
acute bronchitis, as the disease is usually easy
to detect through your description of symptoms
and a physical exam. The doctor will simply use a
stethoscope to listen for the rattling sound in
your lungs' upper airways that typically
    accompanies the problem.
  • In cases of chronic bronchitis, the doctor will
likely get an X-ray of your chest to check the
extent of the lung damage, as well as pulmonary
function tests to measure how well your lungs are
working. The level of oxygen in your blood may
also be checked with a small sensor that is
    clipped on your finger.

What Are the Treatments for Bronchitis?
  • Conventional treatment for acute bronchitis may
consist of simple measures such as getting plenty
of rest, drinking lots of fluids, avoiding smoke
and fumes, and possibly getting a prescription
for an inhaled bronchodilator and/or cough syrup.
In some cases of chronic bronchitis, oral
    steroids to reduce inflammation and/or
    supplemental oxygen may be necessary.
  • In most cases, you should simply do all the
things you usually would do for a cold Take
aspirin or acetaminophen for discomfort and drink
    lots of liquids.

Home Remedies for Bronchitis
  • For acute bronchitis
  • During the acute phase of bronchitis, if you are
experiencing fever, coughing, or wheezing, stay
at home, keep warm, and drink plenty of fluids.
You don't necessarily need to stay in bed, but
don't overextend yourself. Consider using a
vaporizer, or try inhaling steam over a sink full
    of hot water.
  • For chronic bronchitis
  • If you have chronic bronchitis, avoid exposure to
pollution, paint or exhaust fumes, dust, and
people with colds. Consider using a vaporizer or
inhaling steam over a sink full of hot water or
in a hot shower. If you smoke, quit.

5
Managing symptoms at home
  • Get plenty of rest
  • Drink lots of fluids this helps prevent
dehydration and thins the mucus in your lungs,
making it easier to cough up
  • Treat headaches, fever, and aches and pains with
paracetamol or ibuprofen although ibuprofen is
not recommended if you have asthma

6
Stop smoking
  • If you smoke, you should stop immediately.
Smoking aggravates bronchitis and increases your
risk of developing a long-term (chronic)
    condition.
  • Stopping smoking while you have bronchitis can
also be the perfect opportunity to quit
    altogether.

7
Eucalyptus Oil
  • Steam therapy is very effective when suffering
from bronchitis. Adding eucalyptus oil will
soften the mucus in the obstructed airways and
its antibacterial properties will help in the
    healing process.
  • Simply add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to
boiling water and cover your head with a towel so
that you can inhale the steam. If eucalyptus oil
is not available, you can use pine oil or tea
    tree oil.
  • Eucalyptus oil can also be applied externally on
the chest. This will help you expel the mucus and
improve the functioning of the respiratory system.

8
Honey
  • Honey is a natural way to deal with the cough
that occurs with bronchitis. The antiviral and
antibacterial properties present in honey will be
soothing for the throat. At the same time, honey
    will boost your immune system.
  • Adding one teaspoon of honey to your regular cup
of tea will help a lot when suffering from
    bronchitis.
  • You can also add honey to warm lemon water to
treat congestion and throat inflammation that
    often accompanies bronchitis.
