Single Piece Dental Implants

Description:

Single Piece Dental Implantology has been advanced.so that no more patients need to seek various visits to get their permanent teeth and sit tight for 3-6 months for new teeth. Not any more confused bone grafting methodology required. No more the insert technique are costly! They turn out to be especially moderate. All these in light of single piece or one piece implants. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

Single piece dental implants
  • The Single-Piece implants are highly unique in
design and effective in function as it features
prosthetic abutment and the surgical implant as a
unit but not as two different entities. This
eliminates the occurrence of Micro Gap. And
whats more, the patient need not wait months for
the procedure to complete. Therere no traumatic
surgical procedures, no pressure of finding the
right removable dentures until implants find
stability, and no hint of uncertainty of whether
the procedure would be successful or not!

Convenient for whom
  • Single piece dental implants are the most
convenient for the patient/doctor because of the
    following reasons
  • Single piece dental implants can be inserted
flapless this greatly reduces healing time.
  • implant can be placed in hardly 10 minutes.
  • A single trip of 3 days is enough for the
    replacement of teeth
  • They can be immediately loaded so need to wait
    for osseointegration
  • Affordable treatment because the single piece
    implants are inexpensive
  • Lifetime warranty on these implants because of
    their dependable solid structure
  • No swelling or bleeding as these are flapless.
  • The risk of periimplantitis is very low because
of the shorter diameter of the neck of these
    implants

Single piece dental implants
  • One piece dental implants are more reliable and
strong compared to the conventional screw based
implants because they are single component solid
    implants. Conventional implants with screw
joining the implant and abutment have many
complications. The connecting screw is as thin as
2mm and its breakage is common. Loosening of the
screw is common after several years and they have
to be periodically tightened. 2 piece implants
with angulation or in cantilevers are more prone
to screw loosening and breakage. Because of the
joint in between the implant and the abutment,
there is leakage of food debris causing bone
loss. As such 2 piece implants are never given
lifetime warranty. All companies are eliminating
the use of screw and shifting to single piece
implants or they are incorporating Morse cone in
    2 piece implants.

Two or Three Piece Implant
  • Conventional implants with screw joining the
implant and abutment have many complications. The
connecting screw is as thin as 2mm and its
breakage is common. Loosening of the screw is
common after several years and they have to be
periodically tightened. 2 piece implants with
angulation or in cantilevers are more prone to
screw loosening and breakage. Because of the
joint in between the implant and the abutment,
there is leakage of food debris causing bone
loss. As such 2 piece implants are never given
lifetime warranty. All companies are eliminating
the use of screw and shifting to single piece
implants or they are incorporating Morse cone in
    2 piece implants.

Material
  • Under a copious irrigation, serial drilling of
implants was done to prepare the implant socket.
The drills are specially designed to collect the
bone debris in their flutes. This debris can not
only indicate the quality of bone but can also be
used in the case of autogenous bone grafts. After
measuring of the soft tissue thickness, proper
implants were selected and inserted into the
socket. The inserted implants gained the 35Ncm
insertion torque, which is acceptable for
    immediate loading of implants.

7
Methods
  • The patient received antibiotics (amoxicillin and
metronidazole) and an analgesic before the
surgery and continued 1-week post-surgery. After
a local anesthesia, the incisor was extracted
using a traumatic technique with pre-elevator to
preserve remaining alveolar bone. Then the soft
tissues in the sockets were carefully removed,
and a full-thickness flap was reflected.
  • The temporary acrylic bridge, which had been made
for the patient, was relined with self-cure
acrylic resin. Afterward the bridge was cemented
on the abutments with zinc phosphate cement. It
was trimmed in a natural way to simulate previous
teeth contour, which will lead to soft tissue
formation with a natural contour to be formed
near crowns. Three months after insertion
surgery, the implants were osseointegrated, and
the abutments were prepared using high-speed
carbide burs. Direct impression using additional
silicones was made. A resin framework was tried
in intraorally to ensure the passive fitness of
the final bridge, and finally, after confirmation
of the esthetic characteristics of the bridge by
the patient, the bridge was cemented.

Types of single piece dental implants
  • There are two types of Single piece dental
    implants
  • KOS Dental Implants
  • BCS Dental Implants

9
KOS Dental Implants
  • The KOS Implant system is made up of the highly
fracture resistant Ti6Al4V ELI Titanium alloy
pursuant to ASTM F136. They are single piece
implants with apical compression threads designed
    for immediate loading.

10
Special features of KOS dental implants are
  • KOS system is backed by 13 years of experience
  • They can be immediately loaded that means you can
get your permanent teeth in 3days
  • Very much affordable, bringing it within the
reach of a significantly greater number of
    patients
  • Can be inserted transingivally i.e by flapless
    method
  • Quicker healing time
  • Very minimal bleeding
  • No post treatment pain or discomfort
  • No sutures necessary
  • Lifetime warranty offered.

11
BCS Dental Implants
  • These Implants gets their support from engaging
the hard cortical bone or the strong basal bone
.where as other Implant gets their support from
    soft spongy bone.
  • These are made as highly polished surface
Implants which never allows the bacterias to
grow on the Implant surface .This characteristics
feature make BCS Implants eligible to get place
in the immediate extraction places even though
    the tooth was infected before.

12
Special features of BCS dental implants are
  • The BCS implants can be placed immediately after
    extraction.
  • more resistant to infections
  • less maintenance needed
  • This implant system heals faster
  • less bone resorption around implants
  • BCS implants are smooth surface implants
  • less risk of periimplantitis.

13
Difference between one piece and two piece
Implant
One piece Implant   Two Piece Implant
The implant and the abutment are fused they are manufactured as one piece. The implant and the abutment are separate. The abutment is either cemented or cold welded. If the abutment is secured with a screw onto the implant, then it can be considered to be three pieces.
Simple. No joint. Single piece. Complex. Two parts joint by screw.
Single sitting surgical procedure and very often flapless. Implant procedures are less time consuming than that required for bridgework. Very often more complex surgical procedures are necessary, spread over 2 or 3 sittings in a period of 3-6 months.
Immediate Loading i.e patient can be given the crown/bridge the very next day. Delayed Loading very often a waiting period of minimum of 3 months is necessary.
A wide range of sizes and designs are available suiting various bone types and measurements. Limited sizes and designs are available thereby limiting their application.
These work out a lot more cost effective in comparison with two/three piece implants. Expensive with respect to the costs of the implants as well as the time taken for multiple procedures
14
Advantages
  • A single piece implant being a single component
structure has no joints or a connecting screw.
This eliminates all the nagging complications of
2 piece implants. As such these implants do not
have any problems that are associated with
    conventional screw based implants.
  • No screw as such no screw loosening or breakage
  • No micro leakage between implant components as
these are single component and hence
  • No crestal bone loss, which is commonly seen in 2
    piece implants
  • Very strong a 3mm single piece implant is
stronger than 4 mm conventional implant
  • These are designed specially for immediate
loading. As such permanent crown or bridge is
    placed in 3 days.
  • The procedures are flapless, quick and simple.
There is no need to cut the gum. Patients on
aspirin or heparin need not stop the medicines
