1
Firefox Is Already Running Error How to fix
it?
The Firefox is already running, but is not
responding, an error has experienced by users
at times when they try to access the browser. It
occurs while your browser is closed, but it is
still functioning in the background, and it can
be either in the closing process, or it is
frozen and hasnt quite correctly. Many times,
there may be a difficulty with your Firefox
profile. If you face this error message, you can
fix it with the help of the following tactics.
2
  • Hold for a Few Moments
  • If you have just closed all browser tabs and
instantly tried to open a new one, you may face
this error because of it is still running in the
background. In such a case, you need to wait for
a few moments and try to launch your browser
    again, it will run properly.
  • End Firefox.exe in the Task Manager
  • If you are still having the same problem, the
browser may be frozen up. In such a situation,
you can fix this error with the use of Task
    Manager.
  • At first, open up the Task Manager by hitting the
CtrlShiftEscape at the same time. You can
click on the taskbar right side and choose the
    Task Manager as well.
  • Now, you need to click on the Processes tab,
because it doesnt show the list of running
    applications.
  • Enter the letter f and it will direct you to the
firefox.exe process. You can also choose the
Image Name header to arrange the process list
    alphabetically and search the firefox.exe.
  • Once you have found firefox.exe, choose it and
hit the End Process button. Confirm the
process and the browser will be stop
unceremoniously. Now, you can restart Firefox.
  • Restart Your Computer
  • Although this is a quite frankly and nuclear
option for the less-experienced users that
cannot deal with the Task Manager, but it is not
a good idea. This method works because it stops
    all the systems processes, including
    firefox.exe.
  • Remove the Profile Lock

3
  • If the error is still persisting with your
browser, even after rebooting your PC and
following everything above, there is the
possibility of your browser profile is locked.
  • Sometimes, Firefox might have omitted behind the
lock file while it quit abnormally or crashed.
You can clear such lock file on your own just
make sure that browser is not running,
otherwise, it may corrupt your profile.
  • At first, open up your browser profile folder.
Hit the Windows KeyR simultaneously, copy and
    paste the appdata\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles line
into the box and hit Enter.
  • Hit on the profile folder ending in .default,
twice. The profile includes a random prefix name
on each PC, but it ends in .default always.
  • Search the parent. Lock file and remove
it. Now, you can run your browser
  • properly. If you are having Mac OS, then remove
the .parent lock file located in your profile
directory. For Linux users, remove the .parent
    lock files.
  • Following the above listed methods should resolve
the huge amount of Firefox is already running
errors. If you are still suffering from the same
trouble, consult with the skilled professionals
by dialing the Mozilla Firefox support service
number. You can also visit the Contactforhelp to
locate the alternate phone number, in case the
contact number you have already dialed is not
    giving any response.
