Title: Tree Shaping Fife
1Tree Shaping Fife
Tree shaping is the practice of training living
trees and woody plants into artistic shapes by
carefully orchestrating how the tree and the
branches grow. Techniques such as grafting,
bending, creasing, farming, weaving, twisting,
braiding, pruning and ring barking are employed
to archive the unnatural shapes.
2Reasons for Pruning
- 1) In addition to controlling the shape of the
tree an restricting excessive growth, pruning
tree branches promotes the health of the tree. - It can remove damaged, dead and diseased limbs
and thin the canopy, allowing better light and
air circulation. - In addition, eliminating weak and low-growing
branches can keep the tree structure strong and
prevent potential hazards during storms. - In fruit and flowering trees, trimming branches
promotes future productivity.
3How to Cut a Branch Off a Tree ?
- Identify the branches you plan to remove. Dead
branches have no sign of greenery and the wood is
brittle. - Make the first cut on the branch you plan to
remove on the underside of the branch
approximately 18 inches from where you plan to
sever the branch from the tree. - Make a second cut slightly farther out on the top
side of the branch. - Identify the collar on the tree's trunk or the
union where you are making the final cut. - Clean the saw blades after you finish with a
mixture of 1 part household bleach and 9 parts
water
