A repetitive strain injury occurs when a
particular body part is injured due to repetitive
or overusing a particular body part. Strain
basically happens when you do a work beyond your
limit or work for extended hours and harder. This
way you get to strain your body parts which
results in a repetitive strain injury. Anyone who
works on computer daily is at a higher risk of
repetitive strain injury and should be about it.
Unfortunately, majority of people are not aware
about it and how serious it can be to their
health. Below are few ways by which you can
prevent the repetitive strain injury.

  • Always stay relax physically and mentally while
    working. Stressed, prolonged muscle tension and
    poor posture will lead to a strain in the muscle.
    Hence it is required that you always stay
    relaxed.
  • Regardless of what activity you do, ensure that
    you maintain a proper posture of your body. Your
    spine can remain strong and stable only if you
    maintain a good posture.
  • If your work requires you to sit on your chair
    and for long then ensure that you adjust your
    chair properly so that your back or hands are in
    a proper posture.
  • Take a break between your works. The longer the
    repetitive activity the greater is the chance of
    having an injury. Hence always take a break
    between your work to relax your muscles and
    prevent any kind of a strain.

  • Make a habit of doing some stretch exercises to
    warm up and cool down. While doing the exercise,
    ensure that you do it taking your time and not
    rushing through the exercise as it will not be of
    any benefit to your body.
  • Limit the usage of computer. You really do not
    have to sit and write an email to a person who is
    sitting just few steps away from you. Instead you
    can just walk and speak to the person about the
    matter than sending an email.
  • While writing, do not hold or press your pen too
    hard. You should hold it very softly and lightly
    to ensure you are not straining your muscle much
    and releasing the tension from your finger.
