Canada Immigration Updates in December 2016

• The new federal government of Canada is
  committed to make Canada Immigration smooth and
  trouble free for applicants under various
  categories. This is the reason that we have seen
  some positive changes and events in Canada
  Immigration in past one year. The December has
  been quite eventful in this regard, lets take a
  look at the key immigration updates in December
  2016.

1. Removal of Four in, Four out Rule for TFWP

• The federal government of Canada has announced
  to remove the four in Four in, Four out rule
  for Temporary Foreign workers. Under this rule a
  few foreign worker were not eligible to stay and
  get PR in Canada after their employment contract
  of four years is over.

2. New Application Process for PGP 2017

• The IRCC has announced to implement the new
  process for Parent and Grandparent Program (PGP)
  for 2017 application intake. Now a 30 days period
  will be given to the sponsors of PGP applicants
  starting January 3, 2017, to fill an online form
  and show interest in PGP. IRCC will randomly
  choose 10,000 individuals from the submitted
  online forms by the sponsors.

3. Open Work Permit Pilot Program for Sponsored
Spouses Extended

• The government has decided to extend the Open
  Work Permit Pilot Program for sponsored Spouses
  and Common law Partners living in Canada, which
  was originally set to expire on December 22,
  2016. It is now extended until December 21, 2017.
  This program allows sponsored spouses to work in
  Canada until the PR is issued to them.

4. Quebec Updated the Processing fee for CSQ

• The Ministry of Immigration, Diversity and
  Inclusion (MIDI) has announced to update the
  processing fees for the application received by
  Quebec for Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ) for
  Skilled Worker, Business and Investment, etc.
  categories. The processing fees has been
  increased by 0.74 percent.

5. Family Reunification Processing time reduced
to half

• In view of its commitment to facilitate the
  family class immigration in Canada, Canadian
  government has reduced the Family Reunification
  Processing time to 12 months from 24 months what
  it was earlier.
