1
The Road to Complete Fitness
  • A Quick Guide to Strength Conditioning

2
Introduction
  • Living in a city, we get used to a sedentary
lifestyle making us lethargic and vulnerable to a
    host of lifestyle diseases.
  • This is where fitness experts come in the
    picture
  • They can suggest and implement sports
conditioning techniques, which builds the body's
    muscular strength and immune system.
  • It is also crucial in building an athletes
physique and keep them in optimal shape so they
can give their best at whatever sport they
    pursue.
  • Lets take a look at the various aspects or
rather workouts that are involved in strength
    conditioning

3
Muscle Testing
4
  • Muscle testing or manual muscle testing (MMT) is
a procedure carried out by physiotherapists to
    evaluate muscle strength.
  • It is mostly carried out to find any apparent
weaknesses in a muscle, as compared to other
    normal muscles.
  • The results will be a handy diagnosis tool to
determine the correct treatment required and will
form the basis of all the sessions conducted.

5
Return To Sport Rehabilitation
6
  • An injury is an athletes worst nightmare, as it
seriously hampers his skill and effort into their
sport of choice, or can force them to stop
    playing altogether.
  • However, physiotherapy can help quell these fears
and guide the athlete towards a faster recovery,
after a surgical procedure or after a
    conservative rest period.
  • One of the most common afflictions, return to
sport rehabilitation is recommended for is
    Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Reconstruction.

7
Barefoot Training
8
  • Though there are many shoes available in the
market that can help an athlete, especially a
runner, perform better, barefoot training has its
    own benefits.
  • Firstly, training barefoot strengthens your
feet, and can help you run faster, jump higher,
    and lift more weight.
  • It helps in better muscle activation.
  • It also improves proprioception which  is our
unconscious perception of space and our
orientation and movement within the space around
    us.
  • It will also give you overall healthier feet, as
shoes often lead to bunions, corns, athletes
foot, hammer toes, ingrown toe nails and fallen
    arches.
