though he himself would not make it

    and Ishmael

    Egypt

    Pharaoh

  • He saved Egypt from a major famine and through
Egypt the whole middle east was feed

Joseph cont.
  • His brothers came to Egypt to get food from
    Mesopotamia
  • While in Egypt his brothers asked for forgiveness
    and Joseph did
  • His family moved to live in Egypt with him

7
Slavery
  • Many generations after Joseph death, his family's
descendants were still living in Egypt, and still
had the promise from God to get land because they
were the direct descendants of Abraham
  • God had however told Abraham that his descendents
would be slaves in Egypt for 400 years
  • A Pharaoh long after Joseph death had all the
Hebrews made slaves because they had a larger
    population than the Egyptians

8
Moses
  • Getting closer to the 400 year term, it did not
seem that YHWH was going to free his people
  • The Egyptians were killing all Hebrew males to
    cut down on their population
  • One boy named Moses was born, and was put into a
basket and placed in the Nile to be hidden from
    the Egyptian soldiers

9
Moses cont.
  • The Pharaoh's daughter was bathing in the river
    and found Moses
  • She took him to her father who was the Pharaoh
  • Moses was adopted as her son
  • He would be Prince of Egypt until he killed a
slave maste for beating up a Hebrew slave, and
had to go on the run where god would speak to him
and tell him to lead his true people out of
    slavery

10
Let My People Go
  • Moses told the Pharaoh to let the Hebrews go
  • The Pharaoh refused
  • So YHWH sent 10 Plagues to Egypt to show his
power but also to make the Pharaoh let his people
    go
  • The Pharaoh finally let the Hebrews leave

11
Let My People Go cont.
  • Along the way the Pharaoh changed his mind again
and had his army go after the Hebrews
  • It was here that Moses split the Red Sea
  • Every year the Jews celebrate passover to
remember what God did for them

12
10 Commandments
  • Moses went to talk with God to get the 10
    Commandments
  • While he was gone the people built a cow to
worship made of gold instead of worshiping YHWH
  • Because they did this many of the Hebrews were
killed by the ones who had not worshipped the cow

13
10 Commandments cont.
  • The 10 Commandments would be the basis for many
more Hebrew laws, along with other separate ones
YHWH would give to his people.

14
Scouting the Promise Land
  • Moses sent scouts into the promised land to see
    if they could move in
  • Of the scouts sent only two, Joshua and Caleb
trusted that God would give them the land,
because Giants lived in the country

15
Giants remains found
16
In the desert
  • Because of the people not trusting God the
Hebrews would be in the desert for forty years,
and Moses would not be able to enter
  • Joshua would replace him

17
Joshua
  • While many different groups would stand in the
    Hebrews way, like Jericho
  • The people would establish their country in the
promise land where they had been promised by God
  • After Joshuas death the people would fall into
sin and would be judged over by many different
    Judges from God
