• PEOPLE who have been left out of wills made by
  their partners or relatives, or who have not
  received as much as they were expecting, can
  challenge those wills under an act of law.
• The Inheritance Provision for Family and
  Dependants Act (1975) can help a wide range of
  individuals including spouses, civil partners,
  children, cohabitants and dependants of the
  deceased to ask the court for 'reasonable
  financial provision' from the deceased's estate.
• Statistics obtained from the High Court in London
  recently show that Inheritance claims are on the
  increase, rising from ten in 2006 and 43 in 2007,
  to 80 in 2008. That figure rose to 110 in 2009.
