Simply Put, Car door visors, also known as window deflectors, wind deflectors, window visors, rain visor or vent visor are an automobile accessory that are installed or attached to the sides of the car windows that gives the car a customized look along with solving many practical purposes such as making it possible to partially open the car windows in light rain, providing protection against the direct sun’s rays as well as reducing the vehicle’s fuel consumption through lower usage of air-conditioning and improved aerodynamic stance. The car visors also help the deflection of oncoming winds, especially at higher speeds and thereby improving the drive performance and decreasing the wind noise inside the cabin. – PowerPoint PPT presentation

Your Definitive Guide To Car Door Visors
2
What are Door Visors?
  • Simply Put, Car door visors, also known as window
deflectors, wind deflectors, window visors, rain
visor or vent visor are an automobile accessory
that are installed or attached to the sides of
the car windows that gives the car a customized
look along with solving many practical purposes
such as making it possible to partially open the
car windows in light rain, providing protection
against the direct suns rays as well as reducing
the vehicles fuel consumption through lower
    usage of air-conditioning and improved
    aerodynamic stance.
  • The car visors also help the deflection of
oncoming winds, especially at higher speeds and
thereby improving the drive performance and
decreasing the wind noise inside the cabin.

Types and brands of Door Visors
  • In their most basic form , door visors are just
moulded pieces of plastic usually made with
injection moulding technique that are mounted on
the cars windows. However there are some
differences in the way in which the visors are
actually installed. There can be two ways of
installation, depending on the visor itself,
    these are

  • In Channel Visors These kind of car door
visors use tension to stay securely mounted with
the use of a double sided tape. The installation
is extremely simple and does not require the use
of the painted surface of the car thereby
preventing any resultant damage. The only down
sides to the in channel visors is that their
installation takes a longer time and also can
interfere with the workings of the sensitive
    power windows of many vehicles.
  • Externally Mounted Visors Also known as stick-on
visors, these visors are attached to the exterior
part of the door frames and physically stuck with
the use of industrial strength tape. The main
advantages of this kind of visors are that these
are extremely easy to install with no
interference to the window channels as well are
    cheaper to get.
  • The door visors can also be distinguished based
on the material used and their transparency
levels whether these are of tinted plastic,
opaque chrome finish or transparent plastic. In
India, there are many companies that specialize
in the manufacture of car door visors, but Auto
Clover is one of the best.

Installation Procedure
  • The installation of door visors is extremely
simple and can be done in minutes, even by the
users themselves. Most car visor kits come with
all the required materials, such as tapes,
adhesives, cleaning liquid etc which makes it an
    extremely simple procedure. The installation
requires just four simple broad processes
  •
  • 1) Preparing the Car Basically this step
requires the selection of the correct size of the
visor and preparing the surface or the window for
the installation. The exterior of the car should
be cleaned properly for a proper adhesion as well
as the window should be prepared for attaching
the visor if an in channel visor is being chosen
  • 2) The installation itself The installation is
mostly a simple process but care must be taken to
install the visors in the correct alignment as
well as angle and if an in channel installation
is done, to ensure proper fastening or snapping
of the visor to the window.
  • 3) Finishing the installation Once the
installation is complete, care must be taken to
clean any residual adhesive etc, as well as
ensuring that there is no obstruction to the
functioning of the window or any of the power
    window features.

  • Irrespective of which car door visor you end up
selecting, it is true that it will be an
investment well made although the installation of
door visors is not on the top of the mind of any
new car buyer, but it should.
