SBI Merging With Its 5 Associate Banks

• SBI will merge its with five associate banks-
  State Bank of Bikaner Jaipur, State Bank of
  Patiala, State Bank of Hyderabad, State Bank of
  Mysore and State Bank of Travancore.
• The Govt. has approved this proposal.
• After merging, State Bank of India will be 45th
  largest bank.

2) Name and Shame Campaign

• Catholic Syrian Bank has started the name
  shamecampaign against defaulters in Kerala.
• The Bank has already identified 30 defaulters
  with dues of more than Rs. 50 lakh each.

3) Pre-loaded Sim Card for Tourist

• Minister of state for tourism and culture, Dr.
  Mahesh Sharma has launched the pre-loaded SIM
  card for tourists arriving in India on e-Visa.
• Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India also launched
  a 247 tourist helpline 1800111363 in 12 foreign
  languages.
• BSNL will distribute the pre-loaded SIM Cards.

4) e-Prison project in JK

• The Govt. of Jammu Kashmir has launched the
  e-prison project to count jail inmates in the
  state.
• To avoid any delay in processing the information,
  the automation of prison department has been
  started.
• In this project, the digitization of 25 district
  jails, 2 central jails and one sub jail.

5) ISRO Launches 104 Satellites In One Go

• ISRO set a new record of injecting 104 satellites
  in one go.
• Out of 104, 103 satellites belong to other
  nations.
• 96 Satellites from USA.
• The last record was for Russia, 37 satellites in
  one go in 2017

6) Nature Fest in Himachal Pradesh

• The UNESCO Natural Heritage Fest 2017 was
  organized in Great Himalayan National Park
  (GHNP).
• The fest was held for 2 days- 11 12 February.
• Great Himalayan National Park was declared World
  Heritage site in 2017.

7) Coin Fair in Thiruvananthapuram

• International Coin Fair was held in
  Thiruvananthapuram from 13 Feb to 15 Feb 2017.
• The District Tourism Promotion Council had
  organized this event.
• The event was focused on Justin Gilbert Lopez. He
  holds a guinness world record for largest coin
  collection.

8) Kalimpong- New District in West Bengal

• Kalimpong is declared as new district in West
  Bengal.
• Mamata Banerjee made the announcement.
• Previously, Kalimpong was the part of Darjeeling.
• The separation demand was from 1980.
