LOCATION CLIMATE

• There are 2 types of deserts hot cold deserts
  . Hot deserts lie near the tropic of cancer and
  tropic of Capricorn. Deserts are usually very,
  very dry. Even the wettest deserts get less than
  ten inches of precipitation a year. In most
  places, rain falls steadily throughout the year.
  But in the desert, there may be only a few
  periods of rains per year with a lot of time
  between rains.

PEOPLE OF THE DESERT

• People living in the desert are nomadic and move
  frequently in search of water. They wear white
  flowing robes and turbans to protect their head
  and eyes against the blazing sun.
• Oases in the desert are few and far between and
  this is where trading activities are carried out.
  People trade wool, animals skins and even buy and
  sell animals.

VEGATATION WILDLIFE

• Depending on the location of the desert, animals
  and plants native to deserts arecamels, peccaries,
  bats, coyotes, lizards, snakes, woodpeckers, scor
  pions, different types of cacti, creosote bush,
  black sage and ocotillo. Among the mammal species
  still found in the Sahara are the gerbil, jerboa,
  Capehare, and desert hedgehog Barbary sheep and
  scimitar-horned oryx dorcas gazelle, dama deer,
  and Nubian wild ass anubis baboon spotted
  hyena, commonjackal, and sand fox and Libyan
  striped weasel and slendermongoose.
