2Introduction The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE Main)
is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary
Education (CBSE) for admission to the
undergraduate engineering and architectural
programs in centrally funded technical
institutions like the NITs, IITs, IIITs, and
others. The applications for JEE Main had
concluded in January and the JEE Main 2017 exam
date has been declared by CBSE.
3JEE Main Paper 1 The JEE Main Paper 1 is held
for admission to engineering courses (B. Tech/
BE). The JEE Main 2017 exam date for paper 1 has
been declared for the 2nd of April and the exam
will be held in the morning, from 930 AM to
1230 PM. The paper will contain 90 MCQs
(Multiple Choice Questions) from Physics,
Chemistry, and Mathematics. Candidates will be
given the option to answer the exam in either
Hindi or English and via online or offline modes.
4 JEE Main Paper 2 The JEE Main Paper 2 is held
for admission to architecture courses (B. Arch).
JEE Main 2017 exam date for paper 2 has also been
declared to be 2nd April and the exam will be
held in the forenoon, from 200 PM to 500
PM. The paper consists of 82 MCQ type questions
from Mathematics, Aptitude Tests, and Drawing.
Candidates will be given the option to answer the
exam in either Hindi or English via offline mode
only. Â
5State Additions From this year, Gujarat,
Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, and
Nagaland have also joined in the JEE (Main)
system and will conduct them on the announced JEE
Main 2017 exam date. Therefore, candidates
seeking admission to engineering and architecture
courses in these states, can now fill in the JEE
Main 2017 application form online, in addition to
their state level entrance examinations. Â
6Aadhaar Card Law Aadhaar cards, issued by the
UIDAI have been made mandatory from this year. At
the time of filling the application form, the
candidates will have to enter their Aadhaar
number, date of birth, name, and gender, which
will then be validated with the UIDAI's
data. Students, who do not possess the Aadhaar
card or have wrong information in the card, will
be given time to apply for it or get it
rectified, before applying for the JEE Main.
7JEE Advanced The JEE Main is an eligibility test
for the JEE Advanced, which is important to take
if the candidate aspires to take admission to the
undergraduate programs offered by the IITs. From
the academic year 2017, normalized scores of
class 12th grades will not be considered to
determine AIR for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced
examinations.
