Equity Investment
  • Aggregate investment must not exceed 10 of the
    paid-up capital
  • Each transaction must be reported to the RBI via
    PIS a/c
  • Open demat a/c trading a/c to invest in
    domestic stock exchange
  • Sell stock post 2 days of buying equity

Mutual Funds (MF) Investment
  • Must have any of the accounts( NRE, NRO and FCNR
    a/c)
  • Update KYC with the domestic bank for NRO a/c
  • Check if the fund houses allow NRIs to invest in
    MF

Use PoA, if you are away while MF investment
  • Submit PoA or its attested copy
  • Should have signature of NRI and PoA holder
  • NRIs signature is verified at the time of
    investment
  • Resident Indian can be the PoA holder

Public Provident Fund (PPF) Investment
  • If have PPF account, continue it
  • PPF is not permissible to NRIs

NPS investment
  • Indian citizenship certificate holders can invest
    in it
  • Tier I a/c holders can withdraw but with certain
    restrictions
  • Tier II a/c holders can withdraw from pension a/c
    without restriction
