How is Breast Reduction surgery performed?

administer general anesthesia to you to avoid any
pain or discomfort to you during the surgical
procedure. Although the specific technique may
vary, breast reduction surgery is initiated by
making an incision around the areola and
continuing to the lower part of the breast. This
incision is ideal for removing extra fat and
tissues from inside the breast which reduces the
size of the breast significantly. In case your
breasts and excessively large and sag
significantly then the surgeon may need to remove
the nipple and areola temporarily and re-attach
them at a comparatively higher position which is
proportionate to the current breast shape and
size. Once the surgical procedure of removing
excessive breast tissue, fat and skin from the
breasts is completed the surgeon will normally
cover your breasts with a dressing or a bandage.
A drain tube might also be attached to the
operated breasts for removing any accumulating
fluid from the area. The surgeon will also
prescribe painkillers and antibiotics for
preventing pain and infection for the first few
days following the surgery.
