INTRODUCTION
Dental crowns are a form of dental restoration
procedure that helps protect any damaged teeth.
It is typically used in cases where a tooth is
cracked or broken acting as a cover or cap
hence being known commonly as a tooth cap. Its
primary function is to strengthen the damaged
tooth allowing the tooth to maintain
functionality and allowing you to continue life

NEED OF DENTAL CROWNS
The dental crown or cap is generally used in
instances where the tooth is significantly
decayed and lacks the structure to support a
dental filling or inlay. In many cases, the tooth
is so fractured that a traditional composite
bonding procedure is not sufficient as a dental
treatment and crowns will need to be fitted for
the tooth to maintain functionality.

What Are Dental Crowns Made Of?
As is mentioned, a dental crown is available in a
plethora of materials ranging from an entirely
gold construction to porcelain. Of course,
porcelain is a delicate material and can break
easily. While it is possible to obtain
all-porcelain and all-ceramic dental crowns, the
porcelain option can be constructed from alloy
metals and fused with a porcelain shell.

The crowning process usually takes two visits. It
typically takes a dentist two separate
appointments to make and place a new dental crown
for a patient. The first appointment involves
1) Preparing (shaping) the tooth. 2) Taking its
impression. 3) Placing a temporary crown.
