What is LPG?

• LPG is the acronym for Liquefied Petroleum Gas.
  It is also known as Liquid Petrol Gas or LP Gas.
  It is a mixture of non-toxic flammable
  hydrocarbons consisting mainly of Propane and
  Butane. Sometimes traces of Butylenes, Propylene
  and other hydrocarbons are also found in small
  concentrations. But mostly what liquid petroleum
  gas suppliers provide is either Propane or
  Butane. In some cases, a mixture of both the
  gases.

Preparation of LPG

• It is reported that approximately 60 of LPG is
  extracted from natural gas and oil processing and
  remaining 40 is produced through refining crude
  oil.

Natural gas processing

• Natural gas consists mainly of Methane and also
  contains a mixture of various gases like Ethane,
  Propane, and Butane in small quantities. When
  processed through refrigeration, LPG can be
  separated from the natural gas.

Crude oil refinning

• Crude oil is a complex mixture of different
  combinations and concentration of organic
  compounds, including alkanes and smaller fraction
  of aromatics. LPG is produced as a by-product
  when heated crude oil is refined using a
  distillation tower.

LPG

• Large quantities of LPG will be transported to
  the terminal stores and then pressurized. When
  pressure is applied to Propane and Butane, the
  gases compress to 274 times less space than
  normal and eventually turns into a liquid. The
  bulk industrial gases suppliers will fill the
  liquefied gas in cylinders and tanks in the
  bottling plants and will deliver it to retailers
  (service stations or commercial stores) or to
  direct customers, both in small and bulk
  quantities.

Properties of LPG

• Due to its simple chemical compound, LPG readily
  burns without emitting no soot or residue and
  considered one of the cleanest energy source
  compared to other alternative fuels. It is
  heavier than air. However its relative density
  and energy density per volume unit are lower than
  either that of petrol or fuel oil. Here are some
  of the unique properties of LPG.
• LPG is colourless, tasteless and odourless in
  nature. But, often Liquid Gas Services add a
  pungent gas called Methyl Mercaptan
  (Methanethiol) to LPG, in order to detect the gas
  leakage.

Application of LPG

• LPG is the most preferred gas with thousands of
  applications in residential, commercial and
  industrial sectors. Every top gas company of
  today relies on LPG for various products and
  services. Here are some of the applications of
  LPG

• The topmost use of LPG is to fuel the vehicles
  and trucks. When evidently used as a fuel for
  vehicles, it is termed as autogas. It is also
  used in forklift trucks to ensure better
  performance.
• Photochemical industry uses LPG as a live
  feedstock.
• Used as aerosol propellants and refrigerant gas,
  LPG is a great alternative for CFCs
  (chlorofluorocarbon), in an effort to control
  ozone depletion.
• Many LPG gas suppliers in dubai rely on LPG as
  the most suitable gas to keep their business
  growing. It is safe and easy to store and
  transport LPG even in bulk quantities.
• As a great industrial fuel, it is commonly used
  for applications like drying, heating, brazing,
  etc.

• LPG is used to produce electricity by deploying
  in power generators and turbines.
• It is highly valued for its high temperature and
  widely used across various applications involving
  heat and energy.
• Industries like agriculture, printing, metal
  processing, food and beverages, painting and
  recreational activities also rely heavily on LPG.

• Only a powerful gas like LPG can be used as a
  cooking fuel in Dubai, refrigerator in Brazil,
  autogas in Tokyo and for cutting metals in
  Germany. Undoubtedly, LPG has a wide scope of
  applications across several sectors and proven to
  be the most preferred gas source of today.
