Halitosis
  • Commonly called with the simple name of Bad
Breath, Halitosis is the condition in which an
unpleasant odor comes out from the exhaled breath
of a person. It is the 3rd most common dental
problem, after gum diseases and tooth decay,
experienced by people around the world. Halitosis
can be recurrent or persistent in nature, which
depends on the cause of the disorder. Bad breath
treatment in India has become a major health

Causes
  • Several causes can lead to bad breath problems.
Improper oral hygiene is the biggest factor for
contributing halitosis in most of the cases.
Bacteria present in the mouth breakdowns the food
and produce hydrogen sulphide and methyl
mercapan, which are responsible for producing the
foul smell. Second biggest cause of halitosis is
an infection in the sinus, tonsils, or lower
respiratory system. Other than these internal
factors, external factors such as smoking and
alcohol consumption can also lead to bad breath
problem. Eating onions and garlic can also
contribute to halitosis. As most of the Indian
cuisine consist of garlic and onion, halitosis is
very common in the country. Halitosis care in
Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chandigarh, and other
    major cities are rising quickly.

Treatment
  • The treatment of halitosis depends upon its
cause. In the case where bad breath is a result
of maintaining a poor level of oral hygiene, a
person can consult a dentist for immediate
relief. Long term problem of halitosis can be
managed with a proper level of regular medical
care. Brushing twice daily can prove helpful in
reducing the foul odor. A toothbrush with tongue
cleaner needs to be used for brushing daily.
Mouth rinsing with a mouthwash can reduce the
intensity of bad breath. The habit of visiting a
dentist regularly helps to avoid the problem of
halitosis or minimizing it. Bad breath because of
chronic sinusitis is a recurring problem that can
be minimized with regular dentist check-up and
    medical counseling.
