Historic Background
Having its seeds sown in the year 1926 in
Shanghai the institution had its name as Dongnan
Medical College. Before its name got changed,
the institution had moved first to Huaiyan
Country in 1949 and then to the capital of Anhui
Province, Hefei in the year 1952. The name of the
institution was thereafter approved for the
changes by the National Committee on Education
and hence was named as Anhui Medical University
in June 1996. At present, the university has 24
affiliated educational institutions and ten
affiliated hospitals, along with 42 clinical
schools and 37 teaching hospitals.
