Telangana New Districts
ABOUT TELANGANA NEW DISTRICTS REORGANISATION Earl
ier, Telangana districts were 10, but after the
bifurcation from AP, the Telangana government
thought of forming new districts for better
management of the state. Government, therefore,
took up the task of Districts reformation except
for Hyderabad, for the finer management of the
areas constituted therein as per the Telangana
District Formation Rules, 2016. For the purpose,
the TS government has put forward the concept of
new districts before the parliament meeting.
Many opposition parties opposed the initiation,
but after a long struggle and clear explanation
by the CM on the intent behind the formation of
New Districts and after much speculation, the
government has eventually approved the Telangana
New Districts. A cabinet subcommittee submitted
a preliminary report with proposals of Telangana
new districts, thereby increasing the existing
number of districts. The Telangana new districts
have been finalized to 21. This will take the
total number of districts in the countrys
youngest state to 31. The intent behind the
formation of Telangana new districts is that
smaller districts are easy to administer and
ensure complete benefits are reached out to the
people.
