Gene Daniels eHome Structures are a Safe and
Affordable Solution for Emergency Housing

Gene Daniels is a multi-disciplinary
designer/architect with over twenty-five years of
experience in the designing profession. He
manages his own design and consultation practice,
Studio D in Halifax. He founded this company in
the year 2006 with a team approach in mind. He
closely works with other well-experienced
architects, engineers, artists, contactors and
manufactures to achieve the best possible design
team for his clients.

Gene Daniels worked on diverse projects including
the Halifax Grammar School, Paper Chase Café,
Cunard Street Childrens Center and conceptual
design proposals for the Halifax Seawall
Immigration Annex. However, his primary focus is
humanitarian design. His current research project
named eHome is focused on developing modular
habitats for victims of natural disaster. eHomes
are affordable and self-built modular structures
that are intended to provide safe and secure
shelter or housing for the users.

Gene Daniels collaborates often with other
likeminded agencies and his recent partnership is
with CASALA (Center for Affective Solutions for
Ambient Living Awareness) to further development
of his eHome project and to investigate other
modular learning/living structures. His goal is
to utilize their expertise and advanced
facilities within their research center.
Currently, he is also holding design development
and partnership discussions with two very
prominent International relief agencies.

Gene Daniels graduated from Maryland Institute
College of Arts with a Bachelor of Arts degree
(Dual Major in General Fine Arts and Interior
Architecture) in 1989. Later, in 1994, he
completed his Masters degree in Architecture from
Morgan State University. Currently, he is
pursuing PhD. in Educational Admin. and Social
Policy.
