Your utility trailer is an important part of
ensuring that your business runs smoothly and
that you have the items you need on any job site.
After all, if you cannot get your tools and
equipment to where you are working then it will
present a problem in completing work on time.
  •
  • Consequently, having a working utility trailer
that is already ready to roll is not something to
overlook. You need to make time to do
preventative maintenance chores so that it is
ready to go whenever and wherever a job might be
planned. However, many people forget to do basic
maintenance steps on this piece of equipment.
They are so busy ensuring that the vehicle(s)
that pull the trailer are in working order that
they don't realize there is a problem with the
trailer until they go to use it and discover that
the lights aren't working or that the harnesses
have moved beyond the wear and tear stage to
    broken or weakened.

Wiring Harnesses - These are common features used
to keep corrosion causing moisture and de-icing
chemicals away from the wiring. Be sure that thee
are in place and in working order.

LED lights - These can cost a bit more, but are
better to have than the traditional incandescent
lights. But, you do need to make that they have a
cup or hood over the backside of the light to
ensure that moisture stays out of the light's
housing. However, compensating for the higher
cost is that they will last longer. Also of note,
be sure that the directional lights are placed
correctly so that you - and others- have plenty
of coverage. The Tractor Trailer Connection -
This element gets doused with road spray, is
often exposed to the weather (unless you have a
protective box) and will become weakened. Take
time to wipe down and rinse of the connectors
each time you use the trailer. It is also
recommended that you use a solid pin on the
trailer, as this will last longer than the brass
ones. In addition, be wary of adding too much
grease to a connector, as it can actually create
a hydraulic affect, which will cause the
connector to be pushed off the lamp.   Wiring -
Whenever it is necessary to replace wiring on a
part of the trailer, do not take shortcuts, and
use fewer or lighter weight than the OEM did.
Ideally, use a minimum of 12-gauge wire because
if that should short out it is not heavy enough
to cause a fire before it trips the circuit
breaker.   Plainoltrailers Most excellent service
provider. Don't let your utility trailer goes
weeks, months or more without taking time for
