What is Polyisocyanurate?

• Polyisocyanurate is normally a thermoset plastic
  produced as a foam and used as a rigid thermal
  insulation. Polyisocyanurate rigid foam laminated
  with pure aluminium foil is generally used for
  fabrication of pre-insulated duct which is
  effectively used for ventilation heating and air
  conditioning.
• Scientifically a polyiso foam consists of two
  basic liquid chemicals
• Isocyanurate
• Polyol

• Polyisocyanurate foam insulation has been known
  for successful insulation of wall, foundation and
  roof in commercial as well as residential
  environments.
• It is an upgrade to the previously used
  polyurethane or PUR boards.
• It can save 80 times extra energy than its
  competitors in its overall life time.
• Hence these provide toughness, enhance rigidity
  and improve overall thermal performance.
• The normal sheet size supplied is 1.2-x-2.4-m or
  1.2-x-2.7-m with multiple thicknesses.

Polyisocyanurate Boards for Better Insulation

• There is much Polyisocyanurate rigid board
  available for insulation and with many usages.
  For example, in flat roofs, we can bond plywood
  on one side of the PIR boards and also we can
  consider glass tissue or plasterboard bonding.
  PIR insulation boards are 50 percent slimmer than
  regular insulation boards along with providing
  better thermal performance.
• There are different types of PIR rigid boards
  available in the market such as foil faced PIR
  boards, Cavity PIR boards, glass faced mineral
  coated or bonded with plywood PIR boards for flat
  roof and wall insulation boards, etc.

• Polyisocyanurate has the highest R- value per
  inch among all the rigid foam based insulation
  board. The R value increases with the thickness
  of the foam
• It blocks thermal bridging and provides a
  dedicated insulation system which enhances the
  overall thermal performance of a building or a
  wall assembly.
• PIR insulation keeps energy and heat loss in
  control and as a result, your energy efficiency
  increases and utility costs becomes low.
• It has the highest level of inbuilt fire due to
  the unique structure of strong isocyanurate
  chemical bonds.
