Overview of GATE

• Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is
  one of the toughest engineering exams that are
  conducted on All India level. The scores achieved
  in this exam act as a gateway to engineering
  aspirants who want to pursue engineering in the
  discipline and college of their choice. Further,
  it also opens the door for potential candidates
  to get hired in one of the PSUs. Also,
  engineering graduates who want to pursue higher
  studies in their domain of engineering have to
  appear for GATE.

GATE 2018 Application Form

• To appear for the GATE exam next year, you will
  have to fill the GATE 2018 application form. The
  application form will be out on September 1 and
  the registration process will commence from then
  on. So, before you apply for the exam, it is
  important to go through its notification and
  instructions.

Details about the Exam

• This is a computer based examination and is
  conducted online.
• The questions are displayed on the computer
  screen randomly.
• There are two types of questions that come in the
  GATE examination. One is the Multiple Choice
  Questions (MCQ) and the other is the Numerical
  Answer Type Questions (NAT). For the multiple
  choice questions, the candidate has to select the
  correct answer and for the numerical answer type
  questions, the candidate has to enter the correct
  numerical value using the virtual keyboard.
• The candidate has to answer questions within 3
  hours because after 3 hours, the computer will
  close down and the candidate will not be able to
  take any further action.
• There will be a scribbling pad provided to each
  candidate during the examination and the
  candidate will be able to do some rough work on
  that pad.
