2Red diamonds are considered as the rarest
diamonds on earth with only less that 20 true
forms currently existing. One of the most
famed red diamonds is the Moussaieff Red
Diamond, also known as the Red Shield Diamond.
This diamond is currently the worlds largest
known red diamond and measures an impressive 5.11
carats with a triangular brilliant cut.
3There is only 0.1 of blue diamonds in all
coloured diamonds in current existence. They are
found primarily in two places The Argyle Mine
in Australia and in the Premier Mine in South
Africa.
4Purple diamonds are formed the same way as pink
and red diamonds. Pure purple diamonds are very
rare and difficult to come by in comparison to
other coloured gemstones.
5Pink diamonds are one of the rarest diamonds
today. They are mined in t he famed Argyle Mine
in Western Australia. There is no definite
reason on how these beauties form. But theorists
suggest that their alluring color is from the
changes on diamond grains caused by the pressure
underneath the earths surface.
6Thanks to the gamma radiation underneath the
earths crust, we are endowed with these
stunning green diamonds. The most famous and
largest fancy vivid green diamond, the
Aurora Green diamond, is known for its VS2
clarity. It means that it has no fluorescence,
which is extremely rare for a diamond like it.
7Yellow diamonds take up to 60 percent of the
markets coloured diamonds today and are one of
the most coveted coloured diamonds for
jewelleries. The largest and most famous yellow
diamond, the Tiffany diamond, is popularly worn
by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 movie Breakfast
at Tiffanys.
8Brown diamonds have been the most popular choice
of diamonds for Roman jewellery pieces.
Therefore, the earliest diamonds to be used in
jewelleries.
