  • Over the past few years, Drunk driving deaths
decreased in the United States by using Ignition
    interlock devices.

3
What is Ignition Interlock system?
  • An ignition interlock device requires a driver to
give a breath test before starting the car.
  • Some people are still unaware of this alcohol
detection system, and some just have not faced it
as not all the states have enforced the policy.

4
How does it work?
  • This ignition interlock device is directly
connected to an ignition system of the car or
    vehicle.
  • Before starting the car, driver has to submit a
breath test through a tube joined to dashboard
    monitor.

5
  • There are limits set in the cars to detect breath
    sample of driver.
  • It requires a driver to provide an alcohol-free
breath test in order to start the car.

6
BAC - Blood Alcohol Concentration
  • Blood Alcohol Concentration detects the level of
    alcohol during the breath test.
  • BAC helps to measure the units of mass of alcohol
    per volume of blood.

7
  • BAC level must be less than 0.02. but if it goes
higher than the set level of BAC the car would
    not start.
  • This typically happens when men consume 5 or more
drinks, and when women consume 4 or more drinks.

8
  • The technology is a step ahead to recognize and
create a pattern of your breath.
  • The ignition interlock device keeps all the
records of the attempts of breath samples.
