Cleaning Tips For When You Have Allergies
2
Dust bunnies sometimes have a life of their own.
Not only are they unsightly when theyre hopping
all over your home, but they can really cause
misery if you or other family members are
allergic to them, especially on Home cleaning
days. For those with allergies, here are some
tips to make cleaning a little more bearable.
3
Fashion a Schedule for Cleaning
Times Allergies are nasty any time, but if
you spread out your cleaning time so you only
have to do a few things every day, it might make
symptoms less problematic. Keeping your home
clean is essential to keeping allergies at bay.
4
Make Your Vacuum Your Best House
Buddy Vacuuming regularly (at least a
couple times each week) will keep dust to a
minimum. Make sure your vacuum has a HEPA filter,
which will trap particles you cant even see.
Vacuuming is better than sweeping, which just
tends to move dust around. Remember to vacuum
curtains. Theyre great hangouts for allergens.
5
Give Your Home a Weekly Dusting Just
like Maid Services in Dubai, make sure to use a
duster or lint-free cloth (microfiber is a good
choice) to dust furniture and other items where
dust can collect. This should be done at least
once a week to keep allergens at bay.

6
Wash Sheets Weekly Your bed sheets arent
safe from things that can make you feel nasty if
you have allergies. Theyre havens for pet dander
(if you have pets), pollen, dried skin, etc.
Washing them every week will cut down on possible
allergens that will stuff you up or make you
sneeze. Vacuuming your duvet and mattress will
also be a big help.
7
A Dry Bathroom Is a Good Bathroom Dampness and
allergies love each other, so having a wet
bathroom is not conducive to keeping allergy
symptoms to a minimum. Those businesses which
offer home cleaning packages know that a damp
bathroom can lead to mold, and mold is unhealthy
for everyone. The shower stall, walls and floors
should be wiped down after each shower. Leave the
bathroom door open so the space can air out.
Leaving the shower curtain to one side will also
help the shower area air out and dry.
8
Declutter The more things you have in your home
that you dont use, the more dust youll have.
Remove items that are just sitting around. Sell
them, donate them, or give them to friends.
Shelves full of knick knacks covered in dust
wont do your allergies any good.
9
  • Vacuum once or twice a week.
  • Make sure your vacuum has a HEPA filter.
  • Some allergens are so small that they pass
  • right through a regular vacuum filter. That
  • means that every time you vacuum, you
  • could be sucking them off the floor and
  • shooting them into the air, where you breathe
    them in.
  • Cut clutter.
  • Piles of boxes or clothing can trap dust and hide
allergens like dust mites and cockroaches.

10
  • Wear a mask when you clean
  •
  • And when you're done with your housework, leave
the house for a few hours. It will limit your
exposure to allergens you kicked up into the air.
  • Keep the bathroom free of mold.
  •  Scrub the tile regularly. Don't forget the
shower curtain, too. You may be able to toss it
    in the washing machine.

11
  • Wash sheets weekly in hot water.
  • Make sure it's at least 130 F. That's hot enough
to kill dust mites. If your child has allergies,
do the same with any washable stuffed animals.
  • Don't use scented cleaners or detergents.
  • If you have allergies, the fragrances in cleaners
can trigger symptoms. Look for fragrance-free
    products instead.

12
  • Don't air-dry laundry.
  • Clothing left outside will pick up pollen and
mold. Use the clothes dryer instead.
  • Use a damp cloth and mop when cleaning.
  • They'll trap allergens instead of knocking them
    into the air.
  • Clean outside entryways.
  • Sweep or vacuum. The cleaner your path or patio
is, the less likely someone is to track dust
    or pollen into your house.

13
  • Don't shampoo carpets.
  • The leftover moisture could cause mold growth or
    increase dust mites.
  • Ask another family member to take over some
    chores.
  • It's better if you avoid jobs like dusting or
vacuuming if you are allergic to dustmites.
