1
Hearing aid repair Maintenance
  • Hearing aids have small working parts, and it is
not uncommon over time for a hearing aid to need
a repair. You may try to turn the hearing aid on
in the morning and find that there is no sound
the battery door may come unhinged. These things
do happen, even when the hearing aids are
properly cared for. If you should experience an
issue that needs repair, take the hearing aid(s)
    to your hearing care professional.

2
What Can I Expect to Pay for a Hearing Aid
Repair?
  • The cost of having your hearing aids repaired
depends on a number of factors. We must determine
    the following
  • Whether your hearing aids are under warranty
    (basic or extended)
  • The extent of damage
  • The price of replacement parts
  • Labor charges
  • If your hearing aids are still under warranty and
were purchased from Hearing and Speech Center of
Northern California, repair costs will be nominal
or free. If the warranty has expired, well need
to assess the level of damage before providing
    you with an estimate.

3
Keep the devices away from children and pets-
  • Store your hearing aids out of the reach of
children and pets. Removed but not deactivated
devices emit high sounds that may be aggravating
    to some dogs.
  • Protect your hearing aids from dirt-
  • Always make sure that your fingers are clean and
dry before touching your hearing aid. The
microphone input is very small and can become
    blocked through improper handling.

4
The correct care
  • In order to be fully functional, your hearing
aids need to be clean at all times. Clean the
devices with a soft, dry cloth. Never use
alcohol, solvents or cleaning agents. Special
care products for your hearing aid are available
from your hearing care professional, who will
also check the devices for ear wax residue and
make sure that it is in working order.
  • Leave all repairs to an expert-
  • Screwdrivers and oil are the enemy of all hearing
aids. If they come in contact with the electronic
or micro-mechanical systems, it leads to
irreparable damage. The delicate technology is
very sensitive and can be destroyed though
    improper handling.

5
Dealing with Hearing Aid Repair Service
  • But just how often each and every persons
hearing aids will require repair is difficult to
predict. That is because variables like usage,
care, and even your lifestyle come into opera.
And because hearing aids device is used to sit
inside or behind your ear, they are exposed to
the component that is not exactly ideal.
Humidity, earwax, moisture, and debris can each
affect performance and longevity of hearing aid
    device.

6
Maintenance of Hearing aid parts under warranty
  • First on the list of regular hearing aid
maintenance is the listening check. To behead
this exercise, make an attempt to listen to the
hearing aid regularly through a listening tube.
Doing so on may helps you to make sure that they
produce clear sound, as opposed to scratchy or
    weak.
  • Next is the daily test of batteries, which
generally last around once or twice a week. Along
with a battery tester, you can assure that your
hearing aids batteries are operating at full
strength so that your hearing aids are working at
    peak performance as an outcome.
