Best Overall Drone for Aerial Cinematography

• Currently, the DJI Inspire 2 is the best overall
  drone for aerial cinematography. With an
  excellent camera and recording options, you also
  have a fast drone to capture shots that other
  drones are just not capable of. You also have the
  ability to separate the pilot flying the drone
  from the camera operator. DJI holds 80 of the
  drone market so quality-wise, you have the best
  right here.Lets get into some of the specs.

Recording Quality

•  The Inspire 2 has the ability to record in 4K in
  up to 60 frames per second. Thats crisp footage
  in simple terms. A 60 frames per second option
  gives you the ability to slow down your footage
  in post-production to give silky slow motion
  effects. You have the option to purchase a Cinema
  DNG / ProRes 422 license which gives you the
  ability to shoot in 5.2K at 30fps. However, there
  is a catch to that so just keep reading.

Camera Options

• You have two camera options for the Inspire 2
  the X4S and the X5S. The X4S has a 1 inch
  20-megapixel sensor while the X5S has a
  20.8-megapixel micro four thirds sensor. Between
  the 2, our advice is to get the X5S. If you ever
  decide to go for the Cinema DNG or ProRes option,
  those are only available on the X5S model. They
  will not work with the X4S.

How Fast is the DJI Inspire 2?

• Now lets talk about speed. The Inspire 2 has a
  top speed of 94kph an hour and thats going to
  give you the ability to film some great race
  footage. Whether that be cars, boats or
  motorcycles, this is the drone for you. We will
  be honest though, when we looked into the specs
  of the Phantom 4 Pro we were a little surprised
  that the Phantom 4 Pro has a top speed of 72 km/h
  which is quite fast. So, the Inspire 2 is about
  20km/h faster than the Phantom 4 Pro. That's
  definitely a huge plus.

Advantages of the DJI Inspire 2

• Aside from being able to record in 5.2K, the
  other biggest advantage the Inspire 2 has is the
  ability to separate the pilot flying the drone
  and the camera operator by purchasing a second
  controller. With the all new FPV camera, the
  pilot now has the ability to see where he is
  flying at all times regardless of where the X5S
  camera is facing. This makes it a much safer
  drone to fly while allowing smooth cinematic
  shots from the camera operator. If we have one
  complaint about the Inspire 2, it is that the
  quality of the FPV camera needs to improve.
  Hopefully on the Inspire 3, it will be fixed.

Disadvantages of the DJI Inspire 2

• Cinematic footage is possible by having a
  professional camera mounted on a heavy lifting
  drone. But the DJI can get you the same footage
  with the Cinema DNG or Pro Res Option. But like
  we said, there is a catch.

• Because the data transfer is so fast, even the
  fastest SD cards are not able to keep up with
  amount of data being recorded. Therefore, DJI has
  incorporated on-board hard drives that are able
  to capture the high-rate data. How fast could it
  really be? We're sure youre asking. Well, if you
  are recording at 5.2K Cinema DNG and using the
  480GB hard drive which is the largest hard drive
  DJI sells currently, it will be full in 16
  minutes. We did the math and for every minute of
  footage, you take up 30GB of data and every two
  seconds, 1GB of space. And the hard drives are
  not cheap. The 480 GB hard drive is 1,049 USD. We
  hope that DJI will come with more pocket-friendly
  options for all users. Sure, you pay the price
  for quality but not everybody can shell out
  benjamins in a snap.

Conclusion

• This is no doubt in our mind that the Inspire 2
  is the best overall drone for aerial videography.
  Nothing out there currently can give you such
  high-quality footage, with a decent price point
  and the safety that DJI brings to the game. You
  can take it a step further with a few more
  dollars but we know that's how it is now for the
  drone technology available.
