Title: Five Quick Ways to Fix a Slow Computer
1Five Quick Ways to Fix a Slow Computer
2Find Resource-Hungry Programs
Your PC is running slow because something is
using up those resources. If its suddenly
running slower, a runaway process might be using
99 of your CPU resources.
To resolve it open the Task Manager. You can
right-click your taskbar and select the Task
Manager option or press CtrlShiftDelt to open
it. If any application is using too much
resources, you might want to close it normally
if you can't, select it here and click End Task
to force it to close.
3Close System Tray Programs
Many applications tend to run in the system tray,
or notification area. These applications often
launch at startup stay running in the
background.
To resolve it, click the up arrow icon situated
at the bottom-right corner of your screen near
the system tray. Right-click any applications
you dont need running in the background, and
close them to free up resources.
4Uninstall Programs You Don't Use
Uninstall the unneccesay programs. As those
programs might include background processes,
autostart entries, system services, context menu
entries, and other things that can slow down your
PC.
To uninstall unnecassay programs, Open the
Control Panel. Go to Programs category and
select Uninstall a program option. From list of
installed programs, select the program which you
dont use and dont need in your PC. Then press
the Uninstall button.
5Delete Temporary Files
Whenever you use internet explorer all your
browsing history remains in the depths of your
PC. The same thing happens when you install
something. By doing so it'll free-up space on
your system.
To delete temporary files, open "My Computer",
select your main drive, click the "Windows"
folder then open the folder inside that called
"Temp". Then go to the Recycle Bin on your
desktop and delete those files from recycle bin
also.
6Run a disk clean-up
Disk Cleanup is an in-built feature designed to
free up disk space on a computer's hard drive.
The utility first searches and analyzes the hard
drive for files that are no longer of any use,
and then removes the unnecessary files.
To perform this, click "Start" then go to All
Programs gt Accessories gt System Tools gt Disk
Cleanup or you can do the same thing by running
the cleanmgr.exe command under Run dialog box.
