4What is egg donation? This is a medical
procedure where a donor womans eggs are removed,
fertilized and implanted into the recipient
womans uterus. The eggs retrieval procedure
occurs at a clinic. Here, they are fertilized
with sperm through in vitro fertilization and
then transferred into womans womb.
5Who is eligible to donate eggs? The general
requirements to donate eggs are Have regular
periods each month Have a child of your own
Between the ages of 21 and 34 No reproductive
abnormalities or disorders Emotionally and
physically healthy Eager to help another woman
start a family Have a BMI less than 29 Non

6What is the egg donation procedure? There are
three phases in the egg donation procedure
medical screening, legal and retrieval. Medical
Screening If you are interested in participating
in egg donation process, you will be requested to
complete a form. The case manager of the
surrogacy agency will review your form and
attempt to match you with intended parents. Your
personal and medical details are also sent to the
intended parents IVF clinic. Following this,
your medical screening appointment is booked. A
doctor will examine your medical details, history
and current health to determine if you are
healthy enough to donate eggs. Once this is
confirmed, the actual medical screening procedure
will occur. It may take up to 4 weeks for all
your medical screening results to come back.
Once the screening procedures are complete, you
will be granted acceptance or rejection based on
your screening results. If you are given
clearance, you are considered approved for egg
donation.

8Legal In this phase, you will be given
information to contact an attorney. He or she
will discuss the entire legal process and help
you in discussing and finalizing an agreement
between yourself and the IPs. Once this agreement
is agreed upon by all involved parties, the
fertility centre will receive a copy of this
legal clearance, enabling the medication phase to
commence. Egg Donor Cycle After receiving
legal clearance, the egg donation cycle will
start. This will depend on the protocol of the
fertility center. You may be required to take
medications for up to 4 weeks. To ensure the
medications are benefiting you, you will be
required to attend regular health check-ups at
the fertility clinic.

10Once your body is responding to the medications
and your eggs are ready to be harvested, you will
arrive at the retrieval phase. In this surgical
procedure, you will be in conscious sedation. A
physician will insert a tube that is linked to an
ultrasound probe. This will guide the suction
into the ovaries to remove the matured eggs. The
entire procedure lasts for thirty minutes or
less. After the procedure is complete, you will
be asked to rest at the clinic for a few hours
before being discharged. In this brief roadmap
to egg donation process, the entire process of
egg donation was merely summarized. To learn more
