Day Wise Itinerary for Overland Journey To Ladakh

Day 1
  • Arrive SRINAGAR Arrive Srinagar get
    transferred to Houseboat, Srinagar Lake city of
    Kashmir is located at an altitude of 1,730 m
    above sea level is a heart of Kashmir Valley,
    famous for its lakes dotted with Shikaras the
    Mughal Gardens. Enjoy Shikara ride on Dal lake in
    the evening. 
  • Overnight at Houseboat.

Day 2
  • SRINAGAR GULMARG SRINAGAR (53 km 2 hrs
    one-way)Today after breakfast drive to Gulmarg,
    Meadow of Flowers, 2730 mts. above sea level with
    delightful ski slopes and the highest 18-hole
    golf course of the world. Enjoy a Gondola ride to
    Kangdori, and enjoy the view of Nanga Parbat.
    Return to Srinagar.

Day 3
  • SRINAGAR KARGIL (202 km 6 to 7 hrs)           
                                                 
     Leave at 8 am after breakfast for Kargil (same
    vehicle). Enroute stops include Sonamarg and
    Baltal hamlets, famous for rugged snow peaked
    meadows. Past Baltal cross over Zoji-La Pass
    (11,500 ft) and one is in Drass valley with
    strikingly different landscape dotted with remote
    mud huts giving an impression, that one ham
    really have traveled back in time. We can also
    visit Dras War Memorial, built by the Indian Army
    in the memory of the soldiers and officers of the
    Indian Army who were killed during the 1999
    conflict between India and Pakistan.

Day 4
  • KARGIL - LEH (218 km 6 to 7 hrs)fter early
    breakfast (7.30 am) leave for Leh (Vehcile will
    come from Leh). Reach Leh by evening 6-7 pm. We
    will go through Lamayuru (called the moon valley)
    see the famous tantric monastery there. Visit the
    11th century Alchi Choskor, oldest surviving
    monastic heritage of Ladakh - a UNESCO listed
    heritage site. Thereafter, visit Sangam
    (confluence of Indus Zanskar Rivers), Magnetic
    Point, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Kali Mata (Temple
    of Guardians in Spituk monastery) Hall of Fame.
    Overnight in hotel in Leh. (Have lunch either in
    Lamayuru or in Alchi. Light lunch recommended as
    we would be gaining height and felling a little
    dizzy. Drink lot of water and back tea and avoid
    oily food. It takes the body 12-24 hr to adjust).

Day 5
  • LEH SIGHTSEEINGToday we visit Shey Palace was
    used as a summer retreat by the kings of Ladakh,
    the Indus river, Hemis Gompa believed to be the
    wealthiest and biggest monastery in Leh, Shanti
    Stupa built to promote world peace and
    prosperity and to commemorate 2500 years of
    Buddhism we also visit Hall of Fame War Museum.

Day 6
  • LEH NUBRA VALLEY (120 Kms  6 hrs)After
    Breakfast you will drive to Nubra Valley Known as
    Ldumra (the valley of flowers) is situated in the
    north of Leh. The average altitude of the valley
    is about 10,000 ft. above the sea level. Driving
    through the Khardungla Pass (Highest Motorable
    road in the World at an altitude of 18,380 ft).
    Arrive at Deskit by afternoon and check into your
    camp/hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure to
    explore Deskit, Hunder Villages and camel Safari
    in Sand Dunes between Deskit and Hunder Village.

Day 7
  • NUBRA LEH (120 Kms 6 hrs)After breakfast,
    visit Deskit Monastery (Big Buddha), it is a
    picturesque monastery settled atop a hill and
    offers an overwhelming view of Nubra Valley.
    Later, drive back to Leh by same Route, crossing
    Khardungla Pass. The afternoon is at disposal,
    you can visit the Shanti Stupa by owns and click
    some beautiful shots of Sunset in Leh Valley.

Day 8
  • LEH PANGONG TSO/LAKE (160 km 5 hrs)After
    breakfast, leave for Pangong Lake 14,500 ft, via
    Changla Pass 17,350 ft, It is the third highest
    motorable road in the world. Pangong is a salt
    water lake, shared by India and China. Hot lunch
    will be served by hotel/camp. Later at free time
    one can leisurely enjoy the color changing lake
    of blue and green on a rusty background while the
    setting sun teases you with awesome vistas which
    is simply breathtaking.
  • Overnight in Camp at Pangong Lake.

Day 9
  • PANGONG LEH (160 km 5 hrs)Early morning enjoy
    the overwhelming view of Sun rise on lake. After
    breakfast, drive back to Leh, enroute visit
    Thiksey Monastery and Shey Palace.
  • Overnight at hotel.
  • ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner )

Day 10
  • Depart LEHEarly morning transfer to the airport
    for taking the flight back home.
