Apotik Matahari and Dr. Ronald David
Dr. Ronald David gynecologist is an individual
from Ikatan Dokter Indonesia. A portion of the
administrations gave by the specialist are
Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI),Amniocentesis,Ce
rvical Cerclage,Cordocentesis and In-Vitro
Fertilization (IVF) and so forth.
Obstetrics and gynaecology involves the diagnosis
and management of patients in the area of
reproductive health and diseases, including but
not limited to womens health issues, maternal
foetal medicine, gynaecological oncology,
reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and
urogynaecology, male sexual disorders, post and
perinatal issues. It is also involved with
treatment and health provision to patients in
relation to contraception, reproductive health
and associated primary sexual health issues, as
well as primary and secondary pathology and
physiology of the reproductive system and
genital tract area.
2
Promoting the health of women is our lifes work
here in the Department of Obstetrics and
Gynaecology, Schulich School of Medicine
Dentistry at Western University. We are happy to
be able to share with you the scope of our
activities and provide you with more information
on what we do. The Obstetrics Gynaecology
Centre (OG) at the Singapore General Hospital
delivers a full range of sub-specialties within
the obstetrics and gynaecology practice,
dedicated to the growing health needs of women,
from puberty to after menopause. This one-stop
centre allows patients to receive comprehensive
care of their medical condition(s), through
cross consultations with the various
sub-specialists, all within a same day
appointment. The 564 consultations performed by
a general medicine consultation service during
its first year were analyzed in order to provide
a concrete definition of this new academic
domain. Of the consultations, 52 percent were for
patients on the surgical service. Among these
patients, the most common reason for consultation
was the preoperative management of chronic
illness, specifically, hypertension, diabetes,
and angina 47 percent of such patients had two
or more chronic illnesses. The service
recommended cancellation of planned surgery in 2
percent and postponement in 9 percent of the 210
patients seen preoperatively. Patients on the
psychiatric service accounted for 47 percent of
the consultations. In this group, diagnostic
issues were the most common reasons for
consultation, that is, abdominal pain, dementia,
and the suspicion of thyroid disease. Only 12
percent of the patients were seen for prognostic
reasons, usually related to the planned use of
electroconvulsive therapy or tricyclic
antidepressants. The service was evaluated by
the referring physicians who rated the service
favorably on its "mechanics," as well as on its
qualitative performance. However, complaints of
triviality were voiced when the average length of
the list of recommendations seemed
disproportionate to the complexity of the
problems. The service was also evaluated by the
residents who had provided consultations. From
their perspective, the service was more
successful in teaching the "art" of consultation
3
than the "science." This experience provides an
operational definition of the work facing a
general medicine consultation service as well as
data useful in focusing future educational
programs and research efforts. Also referred to
as a medical consultation, a general consultation
is a meeting between a physician and a patient.
Common goals include taking preventive measures
to halt the development of various diseases
particularly for patients who have risk factors,
obtain a diagnosis for symptoms being experienced
by the patient, or in the case of an annual
checkup, to reassess the patient's risk of
various medical conditions. A patient may see
different types of physicians all throughout his
life, as he grows older or as certain conditions
are being identified. For example, children and
young adults are often seen by pediatricians. By
the time they reach adulthood, doctors known as
internists take over. Internists, on the other
hand, can subspecialize in a variety of fields
including but not limited to orthopedics (joints
and bones), cardiology (heart), neurology
(nervous system), and enterology (intestinal
tract). Seniors are handled by those who
specialize in geriatrics. Dr. Ronald David
moved on from the Virginia Commonwealth
University SOM in 1964. He works in Richmond, VA
and spends significant time in Child Neurology.
Dr. David is subsidiary with Bon Secours Mary
Immaculate Hospital, Bon Secours Richmond
Community Hospital, Chippenham Medical Center and
Parham Doctors Hospital. He at present practices
at Virginia Child Neurology and is subsidiary
with Henrico Doctors' Hospital, Parham Doctors'
Hospital and Retreat Doctors' Hospital. Dr.
David acknowledges numerous protection designs
including Aetna, Medicare and Humana. Dr. David
is board guaranteed in Neurology. The School
Board has the responsibility of ensuring
excellent training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
throughout the seven years of run through
training. There are enthusiastic Educational
Supervisors available to direct and support the
training in each Trust. We can provide all the
necessary training with options for research
4
later (as well as the ACF scheme and training in
all four subspecialties (Uorogynaecology,
Maternal and Fetal Medicine, Gynaecological
Oncology and Reproductive medicine). Training
in OG across the Thames Valley compromises one
University Hospital and four District Hospitals.
The programmes have been designed to give a wide
variety of exposure to general obstetrics and
gynaecology in the first five years, rotating
through all/most of the of the hospitals, with
special interests in the final two
years. Drawing on a history spanning over two
hundred years, today's Department is at the
cutting edge of professional service for our
patients, students, and professional colleagues.
Uniquely in the setting of academic practice in
Ireland, the RCSI Department of Obstetrics and
Gynaecology provides services at all three
Dublin maternity hospitals The Rotunda Hospital
Dublin, Coombe Women's Hospital and the National
Maternity Hospital at Holles Street. Additionally
, the Department also has a presence at several
major regional medical centres throughout
Ireland, including Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital
Drogheda, Waterford Regional Hospital, Midland
Regional Hospital Mullingar, and St. Luke's
Hospital Kilkenny. The RCSI Fetal Medicine
Centre is dedicated to ensuring that patients
have immediate access to the latest in medical
services. This includes our new state-of-the-art
prenatal diagnostic service, where patients can
avail of the latest cutting-edge obstetric
ultrasound and screening tests, as early as the
first trimester of pregnancy. These services
are provided in a confidential, private setting,
in which adequate time is taken to ensure a full
understanding of the wonder and joy of pregnancy.
The ethos of the RCSI Fetal Medicine Centre is
to individualize all aspects of care for each
patient, and to provide such care in a
consultant-led setting.

Thousands of medical students from throughout the
world have been introduced to the speciality of
obstetrics and gynaecology at RCSI. We endeavour
to provide in-depth, hands-on training in
obstetrics and gynaecology using the most
effective, contemporary teaching methods. A core
objective is to ensure that students are fully
incorporated into healthcare teams where they
contribute to the care of patients while
simultaneously mastering the fundamentals of this
specialty. Building on the expertise of our
staff, the RCSI Department of Obstetrics and
Gynaecology aims to become the recognized leader
in clinical research in this specialty. A core
principle of the Department is to harness the
resources of our staff and hospitals through
collaborative research networks in order to
answer the clinical dilemmas that contribute to
maternal and paediatric disease. As evidence of
the Department's commitment in this regard is the
new all-Ireland research network, Perinatal
Ireland, which has been funded by the Irish
Health Research Board to help maximize the
health and well-being of mothers and their
babies worldwide. Apotik Matahari adalah sebuah
