• Endometriosis Awareness Month is an initiative
  held across the world in March (and beyond). Its
  mission is to raise awareness about the disease,
  which affects an estimated 176 million women of
  reproductive age worldwide.

What is Endometriosis?

• Endometriosis affects women and occurs when
  tissue similar to the lining of the womb (uterus)
  grows in other areas of the body. This growth is
  seen mainly in the abdominal cavity. Some women
  experience a severe case of Endometriosis where
  the growth is found in other organs of the body
  (although this is quite rare). So far, neither a
  cause nor a cure has been found for this disease.

Endometriosis Facts

• 1. Endometriosis affects an estimated 10 of
  women between the ages of 15 and 49, which
  translates to roughly 176 million women around
  the world.
• 2. Around 24-50 of women experiencing
  infertility issues tend to suffer from
  Endometriosis.
• 3. Because symptoms of Endometriosis are often
  passed off as a normal part of menstruation, on
  average it takes 7.5 years from the time when
  Endometriosis symptoms first appear to its proper
  diagnosis. This is why awareness about the
  disease and its symptoms is the key to
  controlling it.
