A great leap towards a clear program for tourism
in Lianga, Surigao del Sur was made possible on
October 2017. This official partnership is truly
a first and is one for the history books.

The Mindanao Tourism Council with the presence of
its President and Chief Executive Officer of
Punta del Sol Group of Companies, Ms. Araceli
Lanoy Ayuste, has entered into a Memorandum of
Understanding with the local government of
Lianga, Surigao del Sur, represented by Mayor
Homer Pedrozo and other parties who shares the
same vision of improvement in tourism projects.

However, to understand the said signing of
document, we must first ask ourselveswhat is the
importance of a Memorandum of Understanding?
Basically, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is
a transparent written contract between two or
more parties involved that shares resources, one
common goal and clear divided workload.

The contents of their understanding include the
following Sharing of essential information such
as industry updates, best practices in order to
better fine tune the road map The Council being
consulted and involved in planning and
conceptualizing tourism-related projects,
programs, and local legislation Provision of
expert assistance and industry consultations,
particularly for the development of new
attractions, such as the proposed Andanan River
Tourism Complex and Lianga Bay Walk, as well as
improvement of existing ones, such as better
frontline services, resort development, and
adventure tours.

Setting realistic expectations, doing our own
fair share, and having a clear shared vision, is
in itself, a sure and solid foundation for
success that will surely benefit not just Lianga,
but the entire nation.
