Sree Meenakshi Amman Temple
  • Built by the great Pandya King Kulasekara
    Pandian, this temple houses the great Hindu

Thirupparankundram Murugan Temple
  • Believed to have been erected by the Pandya King

    Lord Karthikeya for slewing the evil Surapadman
    and marrying Deivayanai.
  • It is also considered as one of the six abodes of
    Lord Murugan.

Gorippalayam Mosque
  • In Persian sense, Gorippalayam means the grave
    and this mosque built in the 13th century is one
    of the largest of its kinds in Madurai that
    houses two tombs of great Mughal rulers Sulthan
    Alauddin Badusha and Sulthan Shamsuddin Badusha.
  • Its dome is 70 feet in diameter and 20 feet in
    height and is made of a single black stone which
    is believed to have been brought from the Azhaga
    Hills.
