Title: Agriculture Productivity Tips: How to Increase Your Crop Yield

1
Agriculture Productivity Tips How to Increase
Your Crop Yield
2
  • From small growers to well-established
agribusinesses, crop yield is an important aspect
of agriculture for every farmer. Much emphasis is
placed upon increasing crop yields by farmers
across Australia to boost their overall
agriculture profits and meet the growing demands
    of the food market.
  • That said, we have compiled some effective ways
to increase crop yield. But before we get to
learn them, lets first examine common issues
    todays growers face

3
Soil Pathogens
  • Soil borne plant pathogens have been known to
    significantly impact crop productivity and
growth. The main reason why these pathogens are a
real challenge to growers is that they can
survive in soil for many years and deteriorate
    the quality of crop.
  • Not to mention, many of the soil borne diseases
and infections caused by crop pathogens cant be
easily diagnosed, making soil and crop vulnerable
    to further damage.

4
Poor Soil Quality
  • A large part of agriculture success depends on
the quality of soil. Soils with low fertility and
low aggregate stability can reduce agricultural
yield and result in poor quality yields.
  • Whilst pesticides and chemical fertilisers are
commonly used by growers to increase yields,
overuse of many chemicals disrupts the balance of
microorganisms in the soil while changing soil
    composition.

5
Improper Use of Water
  • With water restrictions being regularly imposed
on Australian farmers to deal with water
shortages due to drought, higher water costs and
reduced supply have become a major concern
amongst farmers and growers alike. Due to lack of
    proper water utilisation strategies and
techniques, many farmers end up with a decline in
    their crop yields.

Tips to Increase Crop Yield
  • To increase your crop yields, the best place to
start with is soil. Test the soil to determine
the underlying cause of declining crop yield.
Find out if your soil lacks essential nutrients
    or is diseased or unproductive.
  • Once you have identified the issue with your
soil, you can find an appropriate solution to
treat the soil and improve its fertility, thus
    increasing crop yield.
