Look after a House by Servicing the Plumbing
  • A plumbing inspection will be a thorough check of
all the joints, faucets, sewer lines and if there
is a well pump supplying the garden, that will be
checked also. On many occasions a check of the
sewer line will reveal a partial blockage and
this needs to be cleared. That inspection would
have been carried out by checking the monitor of
a remote crawler CCTV camera which has been
inserted into the sewer. The camera sees all, and
there are possibly roots or cracks in the pipe,
or misalignment has caused this partial blockage.
The plumber will accurately determine where this
problem is, excavate the area where the pipes are
located. He can attend to this by replacing some
pipes if cracked or simply clearing the line with
his tools. Having this done in time will prevent
the sewer from blocking up completely, thus
eliminating the need for emergency work. The best
idea for all home owners is to ask their
neighborhood plumber to inspect the plumbing and
issue a report. This will save all emergency
eventualities. Do this today, would be good
    advice!

Take Care of the Plumbing by Regular Servicing
  • Hot water cylinders are costly to replace but
there is no need if they are serviced at regular
intervals. Problems associated with them can be,
    thermostat operation, pressure reducing valves,
    corroded parts etc.
  • Gas heating equipment can be dangerous and needs
to be maintained regularly. All gas heaters have
starting devices (piezo-electric) and turn off
valves in case the flame becomes extinguished.
Also supply valves must shut-off correctly.
Servicing them will ensure they do not
malfunction. Toilets are often a cause of
problems by leaking and dripping which can carry
on through the night. If these are just off your
bedroom, then the dripping is much worse and can
really annoy the occupants often preventing
    sleep.
  • Water leaks in general need to be taken care of
even though you may think these are minor leaks
in an insignificant place. If a pipe bursts it
will cause more problems that a tiny leak that
    was not attended to.
  • Sewer blockages are serious and need to be
cleared as soon as possible. With regular
servicing, a sewer can be cleared out preventing
it being blocked by tree or shrubbery roots which
grow into the pipe. All these items are in your
house plumbing and all can fail at some time or
other if not serviced regularly. Take some
advice, call a plumber and ask for a free quote
    to inspect your plumbing.

Remove all those Plumbing Problems with a
Maintenance check-up
  • Water heaters which need to operate properly in
winter months especially need regular checking.
There are many parts to a hot water cylinder that
can go wrong such as, Leaky valves, badly set or
    damaged thermostats resulting in incorrect
    temperatures, Inflow and outflow problems,
    pressure valve trouble.
  • If there is any trouble with the hot water
cylinder pressure valve it can cause a leak, and
a leak in the cylinder results in a flood of
water probably in the basement where it will bot
    bee seen for some time.
  • A submersible pump may be in your water supply
should your dwelling be out of town or not
connected to the local authority or municipal
water supply. These are usually found on small
holdings or farms. Often referred to as a 'well
pump ' these pumps draw water from an underground
source. These have many working parts such as
non-return valves, pump diaphragms and bearings,
electric motors and are extremely costly to
repair or replace. These definitely need
    servicing from time to time.
